Labour leader goes North
Labour Leader Mahendra Chaudhry will be in the North this weekend meeting with the people.
On Friday night (24 October) he will be holding a Talanoa session at Café Waitui in SAVUSAVU. The session will start at 7pm and those interested are welcome to attend.
Saturday evening a talanoa session will be held during a fund raising event at the Labasa Civic Centre.
Mr Chaudhry will generally be speaking on the current political situation in the country.
“There is a lot of confusion out there. People are wondering about the recent events which have caused serious conflicts within Rabuka’s Coalition government.
“This is also creating political instability and affecting business confidence,” said Mr Chaudhry.
Farmers in the North have been complaining about lack of market access for their produce. This will also be discussed along with the future of the sugar industry which supports over 60% of the rural community in Labasa.

We welcome young mind to join us for the General Elections in 2026. If you think you can make a change please give in your application. God bless Fiji.
GENERAL ELECTIONS 2026
Come Join us. Let’s get Fiji back on track!
Fiji Labour Party is inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons wishing to contest the 2026 general elections (see advt. below)
The Party encourages young men and women to come forward to take up leadership positions.
There are many among you who are eminently qualified to guide the nation to its fullest potential.
We are a people of diverse cultures, traditions, languages and beliefs. In that richness of diversity lies our strength, resilience and the resolve to succeed.
We must not allow ourselves to be held back by the failed policies and prejudices of the past that have stood in the way of national progress, prosperity and unity.
There is a crisis of confidence in Fiji as we witness the large exodus of our skilled people through migration. We are now heavily dependent on foreign workers – some 11,500 of them are here working either legally or illegally.
We have serious governance problems – corruption is rife. There is scant respect for the rule of law.
It is our duty, as responsible citizens, to secure the future of our nation, and of our progeny, by returning Fiji to responsible governance and the rule of law.
We are mired in debt while our resources are lying idle or under-utilised. We want Fiji to become self-reliant with a robust economy.
We want Fiji to become a land of opportunities for all our citizens.
And for that, we need men and women with vision, integrity,
courage, commitment and the will to persevere and succeed.
Join LABOUR to make Fiji great again!
