As the Olympic games came to an end yesterday most of us had mixed emotions knowing that the fun, the cheering, the disappointment the enthusiasm, the expectations were over.
For two weeks we were under the influence of this positive amazing ambiance Paris has had a wonderful warm vibe and the vision of grandeur and elegance was not just overambitious but it was attained.
As the event came to a close, the cherry on the cake for us yesterday was when we met with some of our young Athletes and the staff from the National Olympic Committee headed by Mr Alfred Foloko and other prominent sports officials that accompanied Team Zambia to this global event.
The Chargé d’Affaires Ms Twaambo Muzyamba, and her team at the Zambian Embassy in Paris reached out to mobilise the Zambian Community to meet greet and support the home Team and what a pleasure it was to have that privilege to personally engage with these young athletes who gave us the chills and the thrills during this global event.
As President of the NOCZ, Mr Foloko also announced that Zambia will be having participants at the upcoming Paralympic Games end of this month.
Regarding the Olympic Winter Games, Zambia does not have participants given its geographical position but however he urged the Diaspora present living in regions that experience snow and who practice and are talented in Winter sports to engage with the National Olympic Committee of Zambia which will be more than delighted to support them in this respect.
This was indeed a memorable afternoon in the company of fellow countrymen rallying behind our athletes and giving them encouragement as they continue in their endeavours and hold our flag high.
We are indeed proud of them and of our Olympic medallist Muzala Samukonga and wish them Bonne continuation.

The Zambian French Friendship Association (ZFFA), in collaboration with the Zambian Embassy in France organized the 58th Independence Day celebration on 29 October 2022 at the Chancery in Paris.
The event was well attended by the Zambian community and friends of Zambia
The get together was officiated by the acting Ambassador and Chargé d’affaires, Mr Alick Banda who conveyed a speech on behalf of the Zambian Government and Her Excellency Dr Christine Kaseba Sata.
In his speech, Mr Banda spoke of the significance of 24th October, Zambian Independence Day not only as a day of celebration but equally a day to remember and commemorate the great men and women who fought for independence such as the founding father Dr Kenneth Kaunda.
He further echoed the Independence Day theme for 2022 which is “Zambia at 58, promoting inclusiveness towards sustainable social and economic recovery” to encourage individual reflection on what contribution to make to development in Zambia, and urged the Zambian Diaspora in France to participate in Zambia's economic growth and bring back home whatever acquired skills.
Mr Banda added that the Government reaffirms its commitment to provide a conducive environment for social and economic development.
As part of the Independence Day festivities, a raffle was organised by the ZFFA, in its continued efforts to raise funds for the various social and humanitarian projects it undertakes. Over 200 euros was raised.
