Stitching *Floating Like Sunlight: Words of Passage, Ritual, Oracle, Living, Dying*, a collaboration between Sarah Riggs and Anne Waldman. The intensely pigmented yellow covers—made with Shin Inbe from Awagami Factory—help convey much-needed light into the atelier.

Today, marks the 14th year since S&C’s founding in Eastern Market Detroit [05.05.2012]; tomorrow begins year fifteen!

So many of you to thank. I am deeply moved by your encouragement and generous support, beginning on the very first day the door was propped open on Riopelle Street!

TypeParis: Workshop Nº 25 Letterpress at Salt & Cedar 09/04/2026

LAST SPOT available for our Letterpress Workshop offered during the NOW26 conference. 31 May from 11a-5p. €140

In this 6-hour workshop, participants will be introduced to a special collection of primarily French fonts designed by Roger Excoffon and released by Fonderie Olive, as well as other classics from Deberny & Peignot. Each sets a phrase or two in job sticks & galleys and prints one-color from a collective forme. The layouts may include pi fonts, vintage clichés and decorative rule. Each person will distribute their type and spacing material back into the cases, when the print runs are finished. At the end, we will trim, sign and number the [variable] editions, while assessing our font choices and compositional strategies.

All materials provided!

TypeParis: Workshop Nº 25 Letterpress at Salt & Cedar We organise workshops around typography topics such as type design lettering, calligraphy, usage of Glyphs. Register to Workshop Nº 25 Letterpress at Salt & Cedar

Paris: A Books and Letters Tour 14/07/2025

I assembled this a couple years ago, for In-hand, at the invitation of journalist and co-founder, Meghan McEwan. Here’s to freedom of the press and the latitude to read what one cares to, uncensored. Grateful that Salt & Cedar is my anchor in this enchanting city. —> Happy 14 July!

Paris: A Books and Letters Tour A new matchbox-sized letterpress studio; the best niche booksellers; a tidy list of standout museums; and a wildly inspiring public library that looks straight from a medieval fairytale

S&C’s intern, Emma Brigl, a student of Communication Design at Paris College of Art, prints the last few examples from the Sunday ‘Letterpress at Salt & Cedar’ workshop. Her presence during this epic phase, as the entire space transforms into a combined printshop/domicile, has been invaluable on all levels.

Today marks the start of her last week, as she soon heads-off to Italy. She’ll be back, however, in the Fall to participate in a workshop with other PCA students, as well as to prepare some work for her own portfolio. A giant thank-you, Emma!
