The streets of Aberdeen have come alive with a trail of giant dolphin sculptures, designed and painted by local artists! See all 50 until August 29.
For 10 weeks summer 2014, the streets of Aberdeen will come alive with giant sculptures of dolphins. The sculptures will be designed and painted by local artists, creating an arts trail around the city and showcasing Aberdeen’s rich cultural offer. We welcome you to become part of this event which will attract both regional and national visitors to the city and contribute to the economic and cultu
ral life of Aberdeen. Aberdonian’s will be encouraged to become a ‘tourist in their city’ giving businesses the opportunity to increase their profile. The project is led by charities Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) and the ARCHIE Foundation, working in partnership with Wild in Art, leading event producer of public art events. At the end of the 10 week trail the dolphin sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and to protect the local dolphins. The dolphin sculpture has been inspired by the bottlenose dolphin which lives in the wild on the doorstep of Aberdeen – named as one of the best places to go dolphin watching in the UK. We are very excited to bring Wild Dolphins to Aberdeen and create an opportunity for local businesses to fulfil their marketing and corporate social responsibility objectives in one project.
