Update on Peachcroft Roundabout / Oxford Road:
Works are now expected to restart on 8 June, beginning with the sewerage and drainage works that require multi-way traffic lights. These works need to happen before construction of the new left-turn lanes and other highway improvements can begin.
Co-ordination has been happening behind the scenes between multiple developers, contractors, OCC highways and street works officers, Thames Water, bus operators, and local councillors to get the different work packages aligned so progress can finally move forward together.
Unfortunately this won’t be the end of the disruption, and the overall programme will still take several months.
Going forward, a North Abingdon works website is being set up that residents can be signposted to, this will be specifically to inform residents of the work schedule.
The site will be provided and updated by RPG Land the northern developments site promoter and the Town Council will link residents to it.

A34 Lodge Hill Update on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council
Work on the A34 Lodge Hill scheme is progressing well. Stages 1 and 2 are complete and we are progressing into stage 3. Stage 3 entails:
A34 northbound on slip realignment takes place and construction of north and south roundabout central sections.
Continue construction of new A34 northbound off slip and new A34 southbound on slip.
North roundabout verge works takes place.
From 3 June, the northbound on-slip to the A34 will be closed, for a period of approximately four weeks. The closure will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during this period. The closure will facilitate the construction and tie-in of the existing slip road to the new north roundabout.
A diversion route will be in place via A4183 Oxford Road. Vehicles wishing to travel northbound on the A34 will need to use the Hinkey Hill interchange.
A similar closure for the southbound off-slip will follow in early July. Further details of this will be communicated closer to the time.

An amber heat health warning for the end of this week, with temperatures reaching into the 30s. This is in place from 2pm today until 5pm next Wednesday.
Some tips to help in the hot weather are:-
Keep out of the heat if you can.
If you have to go outside, stay in the shade, especially between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen, a hat and light clothes, and avoid exercise or activity that makes you hotter.
Cool yourself down. Have cold food and drinks, avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks, and have a cool shower or put cool water on your skin or clothes.
Keep your living space cool. Close windows during the day and open them at night when the temperature outside has gone down. Electric fans can help if the temperature is below 35 degrees. Check the temperature of rooms, especially where people at higher risk live and sleep.
Who's most at risk?
A heatwave can affect anyone, but the most vulnerable people are:
older people – especially those over 75 and female
those who live on their own or in a care home
people who have a serious or long-term illness including heart or lung conditions, diabetes, kidney disease, Parkinson's disease or some mental health conditions
people who are on multiple medicines that may make them more likely to be badly affected by hot weather
those who may find it hard to keep cool – babies and the very young, the bed bound, those with drug or alcohol addictions or with Alzheimer's disease
people who spend a lot of time outside or in hot places – those who live in a top-floor flat, the homeless or those whose jobs are outside.
If you have vulnerable neighbours or relatives, please take the time to check on them if possible

Update from County Councillor Nathan Ley (Abingdon North) Councillor Nathan Ley - Abingdon North, OCC
We have had confirmation that Bellway’s next highways works package can start on Tuesday 26 May.
This first phase is expected to take around 2–3 weeks and will include work on a crossing with pedestrian refuge island ( #1) and preparation for a bus stop facility.
The light-controlled crossing ( #2) follows after that. I’d hope the new paths on either side could be opened ASAP too.
This is part of the wider programme of works linked to the North Abingdon development, and I know residents will want clear, practical updates as things progress. Bellway and David Wilson Homes are meeting to agree the next phases and produce a clearer joint programme.
They’ve also agreed to a dedicated website so residents can be pointed to one place for updates. I’ll share that as soon as it goes live, maybe next week?
Thank you
