All 4 benches are now erected. Thanks to Woody (hyndburn) CIC making the benches look splendid in place on our local nature reserve. Allowing the community to enjoy the views, socialise, rest and environment.
Thanks to Groundworks Grassroots grants and Prospects Foundation windfall fund for giving the grants to enable these improvements.
Plaques will shortly be attached to the benches.
The Friends Of Arden Hall & The Coppice will continue to promote and act to improve our local nature reserve. Through funding bids, practical activities and spreading positive environmental vibes.
More followers and participants are always welcome.

Interested in discovering more about bugs, insects, butterflies and moths? There is an event hosted by Prospects Foundation and our vice chair Robert next Tuesday 9th. If the weather is ok, you will be able to see how some of our groups good work (balsam bashing near the area last summer, rattle seed planting last September and half funding the annual meadow cut last summer) has assisted to allow species to thrive in the area.

Balsam Bashing, so we have targeted 2 areas to attack and stop the spread of our pretty Himalayan invader for the summer.
We will target them in the summer evening sessions, however I appreciate not everyone can get to those sessions but may want to help in their own time.
The 2 areas
- 1. above the play park, if you take the right path above it the area is on the right. This is to stop balsam encouraging on the play park and grassed area (above avenue parade)
- 2. Arden woods near the muddy path up the side by the private house. This is to try to stop balsam taking over Arden woods.
I will provide map locations and photos of the area and plant to look out for. You're welcome to submit any photos of your work or action shots, so we can appreciate and help spread the positive vibes.
Remember, once pulled to snap above roots but below any flower that appears.

A th*****me of friends of helped prepare Peel Park local nature reserve for the judges. Litter picked, foliage affecting paths was cut back and signs cleaned. Hopefully ensuring the green space is successful in keeping it's prestigious green flag. Thanks for the company on the night and we managed to stay dry which was a bonus.

The next organised session is Thursday 18th June, 6.30pm. However follow the Friends Of Arden Hall & The Coppice page for details of 2 sites on the local nature reserve, we plan to target for balsam bashing. You could maybe help pick these yourself on ad-hoc visit. I hope to publish a map of these in the coming days.

Gentle reminder, Meet 6.30pm this evening at bowling green car park.
Activity is to walk the route the green flag judge is taking next week. Litter pick and cut back paths as appropriate. We will hopefully spot the first bench that has been installed on route. Weather looks ok, Chance of a light shower but relatively calm and mild. All welcome.
