It was so lovely to catch up with Karen from The Eikon Charity at council last week and I’m delighted that they have been chosen as one of the Mayor’s charities this year. Supporting the events can now begin!

Several residents have asked me questions in the last two weeks so I thought it would be useful to clarify. I was elected as your ward Councillor in 2024 and I will continue as a Runnymede Borough Council Councillor until the end of March 2027. ScottLewis and Josh Brown were elected as Councillors for West Surrey two weeks ago, they have started the process of meetings and deciding remit but West Surrey officially takes over on 1 April 2027. For these next few months we will work side by side. In the case of New Haw, Woodham and Row Town at West Surrey, this means that you are now represented entirely by Conservative Cllrs and tonight at the Mayor making Council, I will stand up for that choice so that a Conservative voice is central to committee making decisions.
I’m delighted that the hard work paid off and you have put your faith in ScottLewis and Josh Brown to be part of the new West Surrey Unitary from 1 April next year. They have the knowledge and expertise to do this and I know they are ready to get stuck in. I will ensure that all I learnt is passed on so that this area remains the fabulous place to live that it has always been.
The polls are now closed, thank you to the many many people of Woodham, Row Town and New Haw that spoke to me on behalf of ScottLewis and Josh Brown.

This is something that has been in my mind while I’ve been campaigning over the last few months. Thankfully, in our part of Surrey, three talented, experienced and knowledgeable Surrey County Councillors - ScottLewis, Surrey County Cllr Jonathan Hulley and Cllr Mark Nuti - will be standing for election on 7 May. I have worked closely with all three not just as a Runnymede Borough Council Councillor but, prior to this, at the GP practices that make up COCO PCN - Primary Care Network. They have always been highly supportive and I’ve benefited from their wisdom for many years. Thank you for continuing to put yourselves forward for public service.
Some of the biggest figures in Surrey politics are not standing in next month’s once-in-a-generation elections.

Congratulations to Boast Plumbing Supplies Ltd who celebrated 50 years on The Broadway. It was great to join nearly the full team yesterday as well as meet several of the plumbers and customers who have worked with them for many years. I particularly liked finding out that they have always ensured their offerings have sat alongside those of Ron Hayes and Son and The Italian Tile Warehouse when it was there - the true, generous New Haw spirit. Thank you for inviting me and a delicious spread from Ramekins. Here’s to the next 50!
