We would like to say a huge thank you to Amelia, Skye and Lexi 💜

Over the past few months, these amazing young people have been busy raising money in so many different ways for charity.

Thanks to their efforts, they have been able to use some of the funds raised to buy Easter eggs for the children and young people we support. 🐣🍫

We are so grateful for your support; you should be incredibly proud of yourselves. Thank you for making such a difference! 💕

Today we celebrate all the incredible mums and mother figures. 💐
At Monklands Women’s Aid, we see every day the strength, love and resilience that mothers show for their children, even through the most difficult times. Being a mum isn’t always easy, but the care, protection and hope you give your children makes a lasting difference.
To the mums who are rebuilding, healing, and creating safer futures for their families, we see you and we celebrate you. 💜

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and the incredible women who inspire us every day. 💜
Over the past few days, staff, women, children and young people shared photos of women who inspire them; women who show strength, courage, kindness and determination.
Our amazing Teen Girls Group then worked together to turn these inspirations into a beautiful photo mural. Each photo represents a story, a role model, and a reminder that women support, uplift and empower one another.
From famous changemakers to the everyday heroes in our own lives, this mural celebrates the women who shape our world and inspire the next generation.
A huge thank you to everyone who shared their inspiration and to our Teen Girls Group for bringing this project to life. We are so proud of what you created.
Here’s to strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them. 💜

Today we completed our 6-week My Life, My World programme with the young people at Buchanan High.
Over the past six sessions, they’ve explored healthy relationships, boundaries, emotional wellbeing, stereotypes, consent, and identifying safe people.

Our final session focused on understanding consent and mapping support networks, with thoughtful contributions from every young person.

A special thank you to the group for the lovely flowers gifted to Geri and Carol 💐 a truly appreciated surprise.

Today we tackled a big topic: toxic masculinity, entitlement, and where harmful ideas come from.

Our young people explored:
🧠 Online influence
💬 Stereotypes
❗ Entitlement vs Respect
🔥 Where anger really comes from

Such powerful conversations and an amazing group from Buchanan High willing to challenge harmful thinking and build healthier futures.

The fund is limited and will be distributed on a first come first served basis by participating Women’s Aid services and other participating local specialist domestic abuse services.

We’re excited to share that our Children & Young People (CYP) Service now has its own Instagram page! 💜📱
Our new page, Supporting Youth – Monklands Women’s Aid, will focus on:
• Healthy relationships
• Safety & wellbeing
• Prevention and early intervention
• Updates from our programmes, including My Life, My World
• Tips, resources and information for young people

This week our CYP team shared some photos from the work they’ve been delivering in Buchanan High as part of our My Life, My World programme.
In this session, young people explored choice and pressure, and discussed when care can start to become control. These conversations help build awareness around healthy and unhealthy behaviours in relationships.
📸 See photos below for a snapshot of the session and activities.
If you’d like to keep up with more of the work our Children & Young People’s Service is doing in schools and the community, please follow our new Instagram page:

As we head into Christmas Eve, everyone at Monklands Women’s Aid just wants to say a huge thank you to all the individuals, families, groups, and local businesses who have supported us this Christmas.

Because of your kindness and generosity, we’ve been able to support over 350 women, children, and young people across our refuge and outreach services during the Christmas period.

Your donations have included:

🏠 Household essentials and gift vouchers
💷 Cash donations
🍽️ Food hampers
🧴 Toiletries
🧥 Winter jackets and boots
👕 Clothing and pyjamas
🍫 Selection boxes and festive treats

All of this has helped make Christmas a little easier for families who are going through a really difficult time. Your support has brought comfort, relief, and a lot of smiles and it has reminded the women and children we support that they are not alone.

Also, a massive thank you to our staff at Monklands Women’s Aid, who have worked tirelessly over the Christmas period to ensure women, children, and young people are safe, supported, and able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas.
