WOODLAND DRAGON SIGHTINGS

We have been receiving reports this week that a dragon has been spotted flying over and around the community woodland!
A local resident even managed to capture this undeniably authentic photograph!
But please don’t panic 😅 No need to be alarmed!!
We would like to introduce you to Sizzles, our woodland dragon. Sizzles has lived in the woodland for around 6 years now, making his home in various dens on site.
He’s not been around for a while, maybe away visiting family but he has returned to keep an eye on the woodland and make sure it’s being looked after - I think the wood pigeons may have snitched on the destructive teenagers 😅🫣
You may see Sizzles on days with better weather, he changes his colour, size and ability depending on your personal dragon preferences. Yesterday he was blue and orange, and quite small.
But don’t worry, Sizzles is extremely friendly (unless you litter or cause damage) but at the same time really shy 🙈!
Come for a walk round your woodland to see if you can spot him, or clues that he’s been there.
And don’t forget, you can come and help on Sunday at our community work party - he’s always appreciative of helpers in the woods💚

Hey all... message from Janie Thompson

I'm just reminding everyone that we have our Community Woodland work party on Sunday 9th... to litter pick, tidy the woodland and clear a very messy Community Garden. Sam has made a start this evening clearing brambles and nettles from the entrance to the woodland as these were taking over the paths and making the Community garden inaccessible. There'll still be loads to do on Sunday to make the area look presentable and inviting.... so please share this and come and join us on Sunday from 2pm onwards... bring your tools and gloves and let's make it look beautiful again...

Really really dislike having to put posts on like this 😢

On Monday during a forest school session, we happened upon 3 young teens sat in the woodland, they made a hasty exit when they saw us coming and then we realised why! While it’s appreciated that they chose to come and spend their school inset day sat in the woodland, it is a shame is was in such a destructive manner. Our young students with us for a lesson at the time were utterly devastated about the damage done to this apple tree, and they all understood what the consequences would be for this tree.
Just incase you didn’t…..
Did you know that a tree draws its nutrients up from the ground using its bark? If 20% of a trees bark is damaged then there is a good chance it will survive with no great lasting issues, between 20%-50% damage and the tree will suffer greatly if it survives and any more than that and the tree’s fate is sealed and it won’t survive.
If you see anyone doing this, please explain to them why they shouldn’t!!
Do feel free to peel any branches that have already fallen on the ground, those are no longer attached 👍🏻 then turn it into something… we always have constructive ideas if you want to do something - just ask x

Please look after your woodland 💚 thank you

A few visitors we’ve had from this past week alone!
Some in my own garden and some in the woodland
We would love to see any photos you’ve taken of wildlife you’ve seen in and around our village, yes even in your own garden! send them in or tag our page in your pics 💚

We thought you’d like to meet Oaty🐔 and her two babies, Twix and Bounty. Some of our new animal park arrivals over Spring.
Oaty had tried over and over to hatch her own chicks. but sadly it was to no avail.
So, seeing as one of our ducks was trying to sit on far to many eggs all at once, Janie took a few off the nest and gave them to our very broody Oaty. As you can see, she did a wonderful job of incubating them, and she’s a very happy hen raising her two adorable young ones 🥰🥰

Look 👀 at this!! It’s amazing!!
We found this wonderful miniature house and garden made entirely from twigs down by the woodland pond! From the washing line to the little flag pole - it’s detail is just awesome 😎! So a little shout out to whoever built this - its brilliant and we love it!! If you know who built this - please pass on our admiration 🤩 xx

Spring is well and truly on the way now 🥰
Lots of beautiful hidden surprises around the woodland at the moment!
Please don’t touch the frogspawn though 🐸 they already have the odds stacked against them 😅

Wow! Look what has just been installed in the woodland! 🤩
A huge thank you to our local Parish Council for organising the installation of four waste bins which are situated around the main woodland site. These will be emptied each week!
So, let’s put that rubbish where it belongs and keep our woodland looking beautiful as signs of spring begin to appear 🥰

Fantastic productive day spent with Giddy and The girls. We've cleared the two beds on the garden near the Memorial Bench and planted some of the remaining plants left from The Fun Day . We found a beautiful toad in the process and then later on that evening, released a hedgehog that my mum had recently rescued from a very caring member of the community . Lovely day doing some good and enjoying nature 💚✌😁
