Ashgill

Area around Ashgill Force

Ashgill flows from Priorsdale and is joined by Little Gill before plunging over Ashgill Force at the point where it is bridged by the B6277 Alston - Middleton-in-Teesdale road, after which it flows into the River South Tyne. To the north is the settlement of Ashgillside, to the south lies the farm of Low Ashgill, then Mid and High Ashgill, and on the far side of the South Tyne lies West Ashgill.
