Alton Walking Festival, now in its 13th year, it is a truly friendly walking event.

The weather is looking amazing this weekend, so if you are looking for something to do here are some walks that may be of interest.

Don't forget your sunscreen and a hat if you do book on.

SUNDAY
WALK 66 (Moderate 5.1 miles): Taking in the view from Holybourne Down
A circular wall starting at Anstey Park, we will follow the St Swithun’s Way to Upper Froyle, and then return to Alton across Holybourne Down, with panoramic views over Alton and the surrounding area.

WALK 67 (Slow 5.8 miles): Farmland and Woods around West Meon
5.8 miles in farmland and woods surrounding West Meon with great views.

MONDAY
WALK 69 (Moderate 8.5 miles): Alton's Lost Railways
The walk follows part of the route of the Basingstoke-Alton Light Railway from Cliddesden to a section of trackbed at Swallick. We visit the site of Cliddesden station and discover a link to the fictional Buggleskelly station.

WALK 70 (Stop & Look 3 miles): Hampshire's lanes, hedgerows and badgers
A walk along the old Drove Way through Hangers Hyle Copse then down an old sunken lane, across fields and back along a quiet country lane. Along the way a chance to see an active badger sett up close and learn more about badgers.

To celebrate the end of , come and test your quiz brains in the convivial atmosphere where you can support this local business with your refreshment purchases and have fun pitting your wits against other teams. BBC South Today featured the 2nd Accessible Walk - Ramble with Wheels - in Alton's Walking Festival which took place in and around Holybourne on Tuesday.
A massive thank you to Sally and Jannine Stoodley for putting both the accessible walks together.
Thanks to www.mountaintrike.com for bringing their all-terrain wheelchairs for people to try; and to Holybourne Church for providing refreshments.

With half term just around the corner, it’s time to shine a spotlight on our family & children’s walks. This year we have a full 5-day programme lined up to help younger walkers explore, discover and enjoy Alton through fun, interactive experiences.

A fun morning walk with plenty to keep younger walkers engaged along the way.

Thursday 28 May - Walk 77 Holybourne Family
A great opportunity for families to explore local routes together.

Friday 29 May - Walk 81 Children’s History
Alton’s history using a 1666 map – bringing the town’s past to life in a fun and engaging way.

Saturday 30 May - Walk 83 If you go down to the park today
An enchanting family trail through the Public Gardens

Have you heard about out Festival Discount Scheme?
