Meet the data engineer, Met Office: Shohail Ismail at Bradford on Avon Library

On Saturday 11 June 2026, 11am, join us for a fascinating session about Shohail's work at the Met Office. This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about climate mis-information, disinformation and mal-information. Shohail is a nationally recognised advocate for equitable technology, a UK Youth Representative for the Council of Europe's Ethical AI forums, and a Data Engineer placement student at the Met Office. He has been recognised through the Royal Academy of Engineering as 1 of 7 'Engineering Champions' of 2025. Come and be inspired as we welcome Shohail to Wiltshire.

Planning for work, Thursday 4 June, 10.30am - 12.30pm
Applying for work, Thursday 18 June, 10.30am - 12.30pm
Communicating for work, Thursday 25 June, 10.30 - 12.30pm

Working in Early Years online 5 week course begins Tuesday 16 June and runs on Tuesdays, 10 am - 12pm

FACL online courses for parents and carers of teenagers coming up in June!

These courses are for parents and carers of children of 12+ years old and help provide support with communication and relationships, managing emotions, and looking ahead to the future.

Courses are on Tuesdays, 10am - 12pm.

Meet the author: Kate Rhodes at Amesbury Library, Thursday 4 June, 6pm

The islands' secrets run deeper than the sea...

Kate Rhodes is a bestselling British crime writer. Her latest books are the acclaimed Isles of Scilly mysteries. Kate has been passionate about the islands since holidaying there as a child, and still returns regularly to research her books. Kate has been nominated for the Crime Novel of the Year award, and twice for the Library Dagger award.

She wrote The Stalker (2024) a standalone psychologist crime novel, and the brilliant Alice Quentin series, featuring a forensic psychologist working on murder cases in London and also works part-time as a Creative Writing Fellow at Cambridge University.

Her work is described as "dark, intense, and expertly crafted" and "an absolute master of pace, plotting and character."
