Da iawn Carys

Carys Jones has been farming in partnership with her family since returning home to Carregcynffyrdd from university in 2015.
Based in the Brecon Beacons National Park, with common grazing on the Black Mountain, the system combines 40 suckler cows with 550 Improved Welsh ewes and 150 breeding replacements.
The setup is focused on driving flock performance from within—300 ewes are mated to breed replacements, while ewe lambs are put to a Charmoise ram for one cycle. The remainder of the flock is bred to terminal sires.
A well-structured system, producing the right sheep for the ground and the future of the flock.
….
Mae Carys Jones wedi bod yn ffermio mewn partneriaeth â'i theulu ers dychwelyd adref i Garregcynffyrdd o'r brifysgol yn 2015.
Wedi'i lleoli ym Mharc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog, gyda phori ar gomin y Mynydd Du, mae'r system yn cyfuno 40 o fuchod sugno â 550 o famogiaid Cymreig wedi’i Gwella a 150 o famogiaid amnewid.
Mae'r trefniant yn canolbwyntio ar yrru perfformiad y ddiadell o'r tu mewn— mae 300 o famogiaid yn cael eu paru ag anifeiliaid bridio amnewid, tra bod ŵyn benyw yn cael eu rhoi i hwrdd Charmoise am un cylch. Mae gweddill y ddiadell yn cael eu magu i hyrddod terfynol.
System wedi'i strwythuro'n dda, sy'n cynhyrchu'r defaid cywir ar gyfer y tir a dyfodol y ddiadell.

Treating slurry with a biological solution has been found to increase ammonia retention by 43%, lowering odour and ammonia emissions.

Pruex, the supplier of the product, carried out trials on eight all-year-round-calving dairy farms as part of a Welsh Government-funded project in partnership with the Universities of Aberystwyth and Aberdeen.

When the product was applied to cubicle passageways, drinking water and cows’ feet and legs, it:
💩 Stabilised slurry resulting in less odour
🌱Improved soil health and grass growth
🚜 Lowered artificial fertiliser use
🐦‍⬛Reduced scavenger birds when slurry was applied.
