Today, Atherstone's Bravo Watch will be offering 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 Car Safety advice and tyre checks.

Can you see us? The clocks have changed and so has visibility on our roads.
As we settle into darker mornings and evenings, it’s easy to forget that your usual route might now come with new risks.
🚗 Drivers and cyclists - slow down, stay alert, clean your lights and make sure you’re visible.
🚶‍♀️ Pedestrians - wear something bright, use lights, and stick to safe paths.

🎃 Pumpkin Safety Tips 🎃 Carving pumpkins is a Halloween tradition, but it's important to stay safe while creating your spooky masterpiece.
💡 We recommend using battery-operated lights instead of candles
🕯️ If using a candle, never leave it unattended and keep it away from decorations and costumes
🍂 Place finished pumpkins securely away from doorways and escape routes
🎃 Always carve pumpkins on a stable surface and cut away from your body
👧 Young children should help scoop out the pumpkin rather than use sharp tools

Halloween costumes are part of the fun, but they can be a real fire risk. Please read and share our tips on choosing costumes carefully.
⚠️Always look for costumes that carry the UKCA or CE mark, showing they meet relevant safety standards.
🕯️Keep capes, veils and loose clothing away from naked flames, especially pumpkins and candles.
🔥Avoid highly flammable materials if making a costume at home
🔦Add reflective accessories or carry a torch to help improve visibility after dark.

According to the Fire Door Inspection Scheme;
𝟳𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 '𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀' 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀.😬

It is the 'Responsible Persons' legal duty to ensure that all Fire Doors are correctly fitted and meet the required safety standard.

🔥𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿?🤔

Not sure if a fire door is fitted correctly?
𝟯𝟭% 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

Follow this 5 step guide;

✅ 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - Look for a label or plug on top (occasionally on the
side) of the door.

✅ 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗽𝘀 - Around the top and sides of the door. You should not be able to see light in the gap.

✅ 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 - Look for any intumescent seals around the door or frame. Check they’re intact with no sign of damage.

✅𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 - Check all hinges are firmly fixed.

✅ 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 - Check the door closes firmly onto the latch without sticking on the floor or the frame.

According to the Fire Door Inspection Scheme, 80% of us understand that a Fire Door should not be propped open. 👍

𝗗𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆? 🤔

Properly fitted and functioning door self closers can help to protect your escape routes and slow down the spread of fire and smoke.

Today, Wednesday 9th September, we join the nation in honouring those who have lost their lives serving our communities for Emergency Services Day (999 Day). At 9:00 am, we'll hold a two-minute silence to remember the dedication and bravery of emergency service personnel.
We invite you to join us in this moment of reflection. Today, we'd also love to hear your messages of support for the emergency service personnel who continue to protect our communities every day.
