Wow… can you believe it’s nearly been ONE WHOLE YEAR since we opened The Herd?!

What a year it has been! From opening our doors and finding our feet, to building an incredible team, meeting so many wonderful customers and watching The Herd grow into what it is today, we genuinely couldn’t be prouder.

We wanted to do something really special to celebrate reaching this huge milestone, so we’ve decided to go BIG with an anniversary raffle! 🎉

The raffle winners will be from 26th–31st October, with a winner being drawn every single day!

Myself, Scott Fairnington Guy Renner-Thompson Tom Baker-Cresswell Nathalie Petronelli-Stone The Lord Leyland & various other faces from the Farmers Unite UK crew will leaving Berwick Weds 21st from the Town Hall 08:00 sharp and calling by various staging posts along the way. Or as Scotty calls it ‘The longest pub crawl in Northumberland’. The road needs immediate improvement this weekend has tragically reinforced that. The business sector is under so much pressure it’s collapsing before our eyes, and no more so than our beloved hospitality services. Farming, the very backbone of Northumberland is being ripped apart by government & despite what some ministers would have you believe, they’re not only not supporting us, they’re still voting against us and worse still - for the very nails hammering our coffins shut. Soaring energy prices, outrageous fuel costs and food whilst we can still get is getting beyond the reach of many. We are walking collecting your signatures, delivering directly to Westminster because no matter what they throw at us, we will not go quietly into the night. Friend to FU Robbie Moore MP with a typically astute and accurate analysis. Note, he posted this the day before the SFI application window opened. Not suggesting you all need to be voting Tory, simply stating Robbie is shadow farming minister, he’s a farmers son and experienced land agent. Stephen Morgan (the current farm minister for HMG) has zero agricultural background or experience. If food security is national security, should we not have someone with a modicum of knowledge in such a key position?

Friend to FU Big Dan Willis on Countryfile. Not something we normally encourage people to watch but this episode had some worthwhile content. Also an interview with Mr Burnham. Alongside FU’s Kezz as Chief Of Staff, Graham “The Colonel” Simpson & FU’s very own Rip aka Dan Spours, with Ollie “The Blogs” Harrison & of course Mr Clarkson, Big Dan was and remains a pivotal figure in the UK’s farming voice ensuring Mr Burnham and his office are not only hearing us, listening to us & we hope unlike his predecessors cabinet - talking to us.

Folks the NASA team were heavily involved in the FU campaign, please repay that work and sign this petition. It affects us all. Remember, check your email, even your spam or it won’t count.

Commit to continuous dualling of the A1 through the north of England to the Scottish Border. Implement immediate, interim safety upgrades —including junction visibility & hazard warnings—to prevent fatal collisions & stop dangerous traffic displacement through local rural villages.

Farmers were told to lie down as we had no chance, Farmers Unite showed just what’s possible. We stalled the A1 with the police’s help! Then we stalled Westminster. We know how to get things done, and this A1 nightmare is getting done. It will take everyone getting behind it, but we will get it done. Share the hell out of this and when called upon, COME!

NORTHUMBERLAND A1 SAFETY ALLIANCE (NASA)

It shouldn’t be rocket science.

Over the coming months, NASA will compile and publish the definitive 10-year safety record of the A1 through Northumberland.

We will document:

• Fatal collisions
• Serious injuries
• Collision locations
• Road conditions
• Safety concerns raised by communities
• Promises made by authorities
• Progress made – or not made

This is not a political campaign.

This is not a blame campaign.

This is an evidence project.

Too many people have lost their lives. Too many families have been affected. Too many questions remain unanswered.

If you have information, reports, photographs, local knowledge, historical records, media coverage or personal experience relevant to A1 safety, we would like to hear from you.

Our aim is simple:

To produce the most comprehensive public record ever assembled on safety along the A1 through Northumberland.

FU’s position on the proposed fuel protests is as follows. We share the frustration and have been significantly impacted by rising fuel prices. We are drafting emergency proposals for The Treasury and will actively lobby for support.

At this stage, we will not block infrastructure. The public is suffering alongside us, and any action we take should be in solidarity with them, not against them.

However, if the government fails to respond with timely and meaningful support, we will reconsider our approach and direct pressure toward government rather than the public. While we recognise the strain on public finances, meaningful action is essential.

If His Majesty’s Government does not act, collective public unity will be our strongest force. You think we can create some problems with a few tractors and wagons - imagine tractors, wagons, vans, cars, motorcycles and anything the people decide they might use. Now that’s power. We’re Still Here & We’re Stronger Together. 🫵🏻🫡
