What a fantastic response 👏

Close to 800 people attended our Heart of Barrow engagement sessions over two very busy days.

Thank you to everyone who came along, asked questions, challenged us, shared opinions and told us what matters to you.

We heard lots of different views, and that’s exactly what these conversations are about.

Thank for getting involved.

These are early concepts, not final designs, and we want local people to help shape what happens next.

Are you affected by persistent pain? Come and join our free and fascinating talk by Professor Cormac Ryan.

Persistent pain can be tough - and there's so much misinformation out there, it can be hard to know what to trust. That's why Flippin' Pain is here to help.

Flippin’ Pain is an awareness campaign, working with the NHS, Barrow Rising and Mind in Furness. We share this latest (often surprising) science of pain with people across the UK.

We want to invite you to Pain: Do you GET it?, a talk all about the science of pain and what helps to manage it.

Our expert team will guide you through:

Why some of what we think about pain is wrong,

How pain really works

How learning about YOUR pain can help you manage it better.

You'll also get chance to ask your questions to our panel.

Getting to know the real science has shown to have game-changing results. It can change how we think about persistent pain, what we do about it, and even how it feels.

This could be your first step on the way to recovery, whatever recovery looks like for you.

When: Thursday 15 October 2026, 10:30am to 12:30pm
