Afghanistan has, for many years, been one of the worst places on earth to be a child, but over the past few weeks, the situation for many children has become even more alarming.

UNICEF is extremely concerned about the rise in grave violations of children’s rights, especially the recruitment of children by armed groups.

Afghanistan is facing a triple crisis: escalating violence, the COVID-19 pandemic that has closed schools, and the effects of the continuing drought.

10 million children are already in need of humanitarian assistance.

If we do not take action immediately, UNICEF predicts that 50% of all children under the age of 5 in Afghanistan will be severely malnourished by the end of the year.

UNICEF is on the ground, delivering essential health supplies, water and life-saving food for children and families.

UNICEF is there before, during and after an emergency. When others leave crises; we stay.

We’ve been in Afghanistan for 65 years. In that time, we’ve nurtured community networks and built trust with everyone we need to get the job done. We will stay for children.

Please help UNICEF deliver essential health supplies, water and life-saving food for Afghanistan’s children: https://www.unicef.org.uk/donate/donate-and-help-protect-children-in-afghanistan/

Psychotherapy (also psychological therapy or talking therapy) is the use of psychological methods, particularly when based on regular personal interaction with adults, to help a person change behavior and overcome problems in desired ways. Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual's well-being and mental health, to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviors, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, and to improve relationships and social skills. Aside from psychotherapy for adults, there are numerous types of psychotherapy designed for children and adolescents. Certain types of psychotherapy are considered evidence-based for treating some diagnosed mental disorders, and other types have been criticized as pseudoscience.[1]

There are hundreds of psychotherapy techniques, some being minor variations, while others are based on very different conceptions of psychology.[2] Most involve one-to-one sessions, between the client and therapist, but some are conducted with groups,[3] including families.

Psychotherapists may be mental health professionals such as psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, or professional counselors. Psychotherapists may also come from a variety of other backgrounds, and depending on the jurisdiction may be legally regulated, voluntarily regulated or unregulated
