Stair gates, foam corner guards, furniture anchors, covering electricity outlets. You’ve baby-proofed your home, but did you baby-proof their sleep?

Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS, previously known as cot death) is the sudden and unexpected death of a baby where no cause is found. Thankfully it is uncommon, but it does still happen. It’s important to be aware of the steps you can take to lower the risk.

Whether you feel confident with what the safer sleep guidelines are, or you’ve not come across them before, we recommend taking a look today to make sure you’re as up-to-date as possible with the latest advice. This advice saves lives and can give you peace of mind.

As the weather starts to get warmer, lots of families will be spending time in the garden. But when you have little ones it’s important to keep water safety in mind.

It’s scary to think about but drowning doesn’t happen like it does in the movies. A drowning child doesn’t splash about or cry for help. They slip quietly under the water, often unnoticed.

Fortunately, once you understand how and where drowning happens, there are things you can do to prevent it.

Our Watch out in water fact sheet offers bite-sized facts and tips on water safety. Please read and share: https://capt.org.uk/resources/watch-out-in-water-fact-sheet/

Are the children in your setting getting their 180 minutes of physical activity daily with 180 Katie? To increase intensity why not incorporate daily movement bursts: These could include stop and move minutes/ sessions, whole body action rhymes, dance sequences, active tidy up sessions, or imagination fuelled obstacle courses. Each session could focus a different movement skill to encourage high intensity movement.
