Celebrating Black History Month with our young people! 🎉

This October, St Basils projects worked with young people to explore and celebrate Black history, culture, and achievements. There was also a chance to visit Mockingbird Cinema & The Nest Bar and Kitchen for a free screening of Black Panther.

Thank you to Drifters cinema and Mockingbird for organising the tickets and film. As well as appreciation to all the staff who worked with young people in observation of this month, helping young people to recognise the past, present moment, and inspiring the future.

It was great to see how young people engaged with these important themes in meaningful ways.

Our community of supporters allow us to make a young person feel cared for the moment they walk through the door.🚪

Further food and toiletries donated from Umesh with his team from Sewa Day and our longstanding partners Richborough making a drop off at our Live and Work Accommodation in response to our recent appeal, continue to make a big difference!

Thank you so much for your huge efforts to support young people at risk or facing homelessness.

Nikki at our Birmingham Youth Hub has highlighted the impact this appeal response has already made:

"Last week we gave out 7 packs to young people starting afresh and this really does make a difference to them knowing they get a few good meals, toiletries etc, nothing better than having a decent shower and feeling clean.

So everything we get, even the smallest item like a bar of chocolate or a pot noodle massively impacts on the young person's life, knowing at St Basils we do really care about each and everyone of them." ❤️‍🩹

An extended thank you goes out to everyone that responded and supported our young people, it means the world to us: ALWAYSE, BDO, Baily Garner, Lovell Partnerships Ltd, Midlands Rail Alliance with AtkinsRéalis, EQUANS, Tricorn House, and McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd

If you’d like to partner with us, donate, volunteer, or spread the word... Every single act of support helps us prevent youth homelessness in the West Midlands.

A leap of faith for World Homelessness Day. 🪂

On Saturday 10th October, our brilliant sky dive team took to the skies! A wonderful thank you to Jean Templeton, Louise, David, and Karen from Lovell Partnerships for facing their fears at 10,000ft to support St Basils.

Their collective efforts raised over £3,213! ⭐

All funds raised will go towards supporting young people who are at risk or facing homelessness in the West Midlands.

It was a beautiful and sunny day, with the perfect conditions for an unforgettable jump!

A special thank you to Skyline Skydiving and Hinton Airfield for their hospitality, and to the team of instructors who brought everyone down safely. ❤️

🌟 Lead Worker's: Feel Good Friday Post 🌟

We'd like to recognise the outstanding efforts of our Lead Worker Service, where staff members Sharon and Joanna quite literally went the extra mile in our St Basils van! 🚐

"As lead workers we go above and beyond for our young people. Sharon's young person had moved into her own place and Sharon had got her a settee and coffee table that had been donated. We also had to pick up a bed we had brought using a grant.

We moved all her items from Live and Work in Birmingham and she is now settled in her new home." 🏠 - Joanna

St Basils Lead Worker Service helps young people access the right support, build the skills they need for independent living, pursue their aspirations and reduce the risk of homelessness wherever possible.

Thank you for all you do to support young people, Sharon and Joanna - have a great weekend! 🙌

We’re consistently amazed by our generous supporters and partners! 🙌

Everyone at St Basils is blown away by the response to our Youth Hub and Outreach Appeals!

It is moving to witness the kindness and generosity currently being shown, and we’re so grateful for the ongoing support that’s developed across the West Midlands.

Our deepest appreciation goes to:

● ALWAYSE, BDO and Baily Garner – For their essential food contributions.

● Lovell Partnerships Ltd for their essential food and coat contributions.

● Midlands Rail Alliance with AtkinsRéalis for visiting us our Birmingham Youth Hub, with their food and coats donation.

● EQUANS for delivering food and coats to both Birmingham and Coventry Youth Hubs.

● Tricorn House - for the ongoing collection efforts with food & winter clothing.

● McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd - for the ongoing collection efforts with food.

● Richborough - for their efforts to restock our Live and Work Birmingham, Walk-in Wardrobe.

As winter approaches, contributions of food, toiletries and clothing are essential resources to meet the immediate needs of young people at risk of, facing homelessness or currently rough sleeping.

These supplies help build a foundation for us to provide long-term support, that each young person deserves. It could not be done without the outstanding community response to our appeals.

Thank you to everyone involved for the phenomenal support, you can see the massive difference you've made from our before/after photos! ⭐

Thank you to Chris and everyone at the Bistro! Amazing cakes for a brilliant cause. 🍰

✨Chris has decided to do a little volunteering at the cafe during a break he is having from his very stressful job. His job doesn’t provide much social interaction so he is using the cafe to boost his confidence and stop him becoming socially isolated. During his short time with us I can see a tangible difference , he is coming out of his shell and it’s a pleasure to see. He is now A highly valued member of our team. ❤️

🍰Last week he decided to do some baking and he was very proud of his coffee and walnut cake - As was I

⭐ The Choir with No Name to perform at Big Sleepout 2026 ⭐

We’re super excited to announce that The Choir with No Name will be joining us at this years event!

They bring together people with lived experience of homelessness, with the hope that all people going through tough times find a place to sing their hearts out, among friends.

Their voices will add to the evening’s atmosphere at the Alexander Stadium to raise awareness and funds for young people at risk or facing homelessness. 📢

4 WEEKS TO GO. The countdown begins and we can't wait to hear the choir sing and join us all on Friday 13th November 2026!
