With a yellow weather warning for strong winds in effect this weekend, itโs important to know what action to take if a tree falls:
โ ๏ธ Immediate danger to life or property? ๐จ๐Call 999 immediately. โ ๏ธ
No immediate danger? Report it to your local council if the tree:

๐ฆ is obstructing traffic lights or road signage
๐ or is at risk of falling but isnโt dangerous yet.
For all West Midlands councils, we've made reporting fallen trees simple. Just visit our handy FAQ here and click your council: https://wmfs.link/40xGijo

At times being a firefighter can be physically demanding. During the recruitment process we test candidates to see if they have the skills required to carry out the role.
The equipment carry test covers a distance of 550 metres. Part of this includes carrying two lengths of coiled hose for 100 metres, followed by carrying one length at chest height for 25 metres. The weight of all the equipment used can be found on our website, enabling you to taylor your workouts to make sure you can carry out the role of a firefighter.
Don't forget that fire kit and gloves will need to be worn when carrying out the practical selection tests.
Full details around becoming a firefighter can be found here https://www.wmfs.net/careers/firefighter/
