Royal Sutton Coldfield Gateway Scheme – Public Consultation Now Open
The Royal Sutton Coldfield Gateway scheme aims to enhance access to, from, and around the heart of the town, delivering significant improvements to public transport, walking, wheeling and cycling infrastructure.

The proposals focus on improving connectivity, reducing severance, improving public transport, walking, wheeling and cycling facilities, and supporting the wider regeneration of Sutton Coldfield town centre. This scheme delivers the first phases of the vision set out in the Sutton Coldfield Town Centre Masterplan Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).

Residents and stakeholders are invited to view the latest plans and share feedback between 22 October and 3 December via the consultation website: https://www.birminghambeheard.org.uk/bcc/sutton-gateway.

Three drop‑in sessions will also take place at Sutton Coldfield United Reformed Church on 12, 18 and 21 November, where the project team will be available to discuss proposals. Feedback gathered will help shape the next phase of the scheme and the future of the town centre.

Exciting updates from Royal Sutton Coldfield Pride in Place! 🌟

We’ve entered the delivery phase of our regeneration plan, empowering our community and investing directly into local groups and projects.

Here’s a quick snapshot:

💰 £187,000 Awarded to 16 local community initiatives (parks, sports facilities, SEND support, music, and community hubs).

✨ £127,000+ fund for the next grant round of community grants in January 2027.

🏛️ Feasibility studies and costings for 4 Capital Projects: Neighbourhood Wellbeing Centres, Vesey Memorial Gardens, improving the link between the Town Centre and Sutton Park link, and upgrading town-wide signage and wayfinding.

Join Board Chair Doug Wright MBE DL and Board members on 16 & 17 November 2026 for Meet the Chair sessions to discuss Pride in Place, ask questions, or share your views.

This evening The Mayor is attending the Sutton Coldfield Cricket Awards and presenting trophies to celebrate the achievements of local players 🏏🏏

Sport plays such an important role in bringing people together, promoting health & wellbeing and building a strong sense of community. We are delighted to reveal the winners of this year’s Soul of Sutton Photography Competition! 📸

Timed to mark World Photography Day, this year's theme was 'Home', inviting residents to share the places, moments, and views that make Royal Sutton Coldfield special to them.

Following a review of the shortlisted entries against the judging criteria, the Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, Councillor Nitish Raut, selected our top three winners for the 18 Years and Over category:

🥇 1st Prize (£100 One4all Gift Card): Alison Mathews

🥈 2nd Prize (£50 One4all Gift Card): Austen Evans

🥉 3rd Prize (£25 One4all Gift Card): Keith Wright

Reflecting on the winning photograph, the Mayor, Cllr Nitish Raut, said: "It was wonderful to see how thoughtfully our residents captured what the Royal Town means to them."
