Good Morning. A wet and windy day today with occasionally heavy showers this morning turning to more persistent, and at times heavy, rain this afternoon. Strong south easterly winds. Top temp around 10-11C but feeling colder in the wind. UV forecast is LOW.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT:
Some clear spells this evening but becoming cloudier overnight although it should remain dry. Moderate southerly winds at first freshening overnight and becoming strong south easterly by morning. Min temp 9-10C.

TOMORROW:
Fairly cloudy with a few showers, these mainly light. Strong south easterly winds. Top temp 11-12C. UV forecast is LOW.

WEDNESDAY:
Cloudy with outbreaks of rain. Strong south easterly winds, starting to moderate by late afternoon.

THURSDAY:
Overcast with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, clearing by evening. Light to moderate westerly winds.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT:
Varying amounts of cloud with some clear spells and it should remain largely dry. Light north westerly winds backing south westerly. Min temp 4-5C.

TOMORROW:
Perhaps the odd light shower at first but after that a mainly dry day with sunny spells. Moderate to fresh south westerly winds. Top temp just 11-12C. UV forecast is LOW.

MONDAY:
Mainly dry and bright with some sunshine but quite breezy with strong south westerly winds.

TUESDAY:
A cloudier day but dry at first, some rain arriving through the night. Strong south easterly winds.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT:
The odd shower to begin with but a largely dry evening with some clear spells. Cloud will thicken towards morning with a few showers. Light to moderate north westerly breeze backing westerly overnight. Min temp 4-5C.

TOMORROW:
A mixture of cloudy and sunny spells with the odd shower first thing, otherwise largely dry and winds falling light. Top temp 10-11C. UV forecast is LOW.

SUNDAY:
Mainly dry and bright with some sunny spells. Light south westerly winds to begin with, freshening through the day, becoming strong overnight.

MONDAY:
Some cloud to begin with but becoming bright with some sunny spells. Fresh to strong southerly winds.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT:
Overcast with some rain this evening for a time before it turns drier later. Southerly gale force winds veering south westerly later and easing somewhat. Min temp 9-10C.

TOMORROW:
Any cloud soon clearing and becoming a bright day with some sunny spells. Still breezy with fresh to strong south westerly winds, easing through the evening. Top temp 11-12C. UV forecast is LOW.

FRIDAY:
Mainly dry with varying amounts of cloud and some sunny spells. Light to moderate west to north west winds.

SATURDAY:
Another mainly dry day with some sunny spells. Mainly light winds.

Winds are fairly steady at Force 7 to Gale 8 at the moment gusting in excess of 50mph. Current top gusts at the moment: 52mph Gulberwick Weather & Fair Isle, 51mph Lerwick Observatory & Sumburgh, 45mph Baltasound.

SHETLAND AREA WEATHER FORECAST ISSUED @ 1625 UTC TUESDAY 13th OCTOBER 2026.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT:
Clear spells and the odd blustery shower this evening. Mainly dry overnight but cloud thickening by morning. Strong south westerly winds moderating somewhat later in the night. Min temp 9-10C.

TOMORROW:
With the remnants of Hurricane Isaias passing to the west of Shetland, winds quickly backing southerly and increasing to gale force by lunch time and to severe gale force in the afternoon, becoming strong south westerly in the evening. It may touch storm force in places with gusts between 50-60mph possible. Mainly dry in the morning but outbreaks of rain arriving by afternoon and these could be heavy at times. Top temp 11-12C but feeling colder in the wind. UV forecast is LOW.

THURSDAY:
A mixture of sunshine and showers, with strong south westerly winds continuing.

FRIDAY:
A bit quieter with light to moderate north westerly winds and just the odd passing shower.

As forecast some heavy rain and strong winds. Up to midnight last night we had 14mm of rain, today so far we have 11.2mm (2.8mm in the last hour). Top gust here 40mph. Top gusts elsewhere: 46mph Fair Isle, 41 mph Baltasound, 40mph Lerwick Observatory. This should start to clear fairly soon so some sunny spells and the odd blustery shower for this afternoon.

SHETLAND AREA WEATHER FORECAST ISSUED @ 1600 UTC MONDAY 12th OCTOBER 2026.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT:
Overcast with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times overnight. Strong to gale force south easterly winds gradually veering southerly through the night. Min temp 9-10C.

TOMORROW:
A cloudy morning with further rain. This will clear later in the morning and we should see some sunny spells developing but still with the odd shower possible. Strong southerly winds veering south westerly. Top temp 11-12C. UV forecast is LOW.

WEDNESDAY:
Overcast with outbreaks of rain, occasionally heavy. Very windy with southerly gales, perhaps touching severe gale force at times before veering south westerly in the evening.

THURSDAY:
Overcast with mist and light rain. Becoming drier by evening. Still quite windy with fresh to strong south westerly winds.
