🌸 Bloomin’ marvellous news for the Borough! 🌿

Cheshire West and Chester Council has been awarded Gold at the North West in Bloom Awards 2026, recognising the work taking place across our borough to create cleaner, greener and more welcoming communities.

We're particularly pleased to see two fantastic Winsford organisations recognised for their efforts! 👏

🌻 NeuroMuscular Centre – Level 5 Outstanding

🌳 Friends of Weaver Parkway – Level 5 Outstanding, plus a special award for Gardening for Wildlife!

A huge thank you to the volunteers, community groups and Council teams whose hard work throughout the year helps make our town and wider borough somewhere we can all be proud of. 💚

This Labour Government Budget is delivering much-needed breathing space for families as we head into winter.

Around 130,000 households in council tax Bands A–D across Cheshire West and Chester will receive £100 to help with energy bills.

That's nearly 80% of homes in our borough.

Alongside this direct support, the Labour Budget 2026 also includes measures to help tackle energy costs, support motorists, back local businesses and invest in our communities.

This support is an important step towards helping families, while building a fairer, more secure future for Cheshire West and Chester.

The revelations from ITV's undercover investigation into Reform UK are deeply disturbing.

Racist remarks, threats of violence and vile comments about women, all coming from people elected to represent their communities.

These aren't just random people making offensive comments online. They're elected councillors, entrusted with representing residents and making decisions on their behalf.

Nigel Farage and Reform UK have serious questions to answer about how these individuals were selected, vetted and allowed to represent the party.

People deserve better from those who seek public office, regardless of political party.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham was absolutely right when he said:

“We've allowed a poison into our politics in recent years and it's time to draw a line on it.”

A good afternoon out in Winsford yesterday, catching up with local residents alongside Dan Price for Cheshire & Warrington 🌹

There's plenty happening in and around our town, and plenty more we'd like to see.

From reliable buses and better connections to neighbouring towns, to local jobs, skills, opportunities for young people and continued improvements to our town centre.

We believe the best way to understand what matters to people is to get out and speak to them.

It's our town, our community and our future, and everyone should have a say in it.

Today Andy Burnham set out a clear vision for where he wants to take the country.

A country where your opportunities aren't determined by your postcode. Where power sits closer to the communities it affects. And where we confront the big challenges, like social care, rather than leaving them for the next generation.

There are no easy answers to some of the problems Britain faces, and government can't simply wish them away. It takes difficult choices, long-term thinking and the courage to make the case for change.

Andy's vision is rooted in Labour values, with the ambition to change what isn't working and the confidence to offer something better. 🌹
