In 2022, you made history by electing 2 Alliance MLAs in North Down.

Since then, Connie and Andrew have been busy, from restoring our environment, pushing for reform of our health service and championing integrated education, they are committed to building a more sustainable, shared future for everyone.

If you want to keep North Down moving forward, vote Andrew Muir and Connie Egan next May.

It’s been super getting out and meeting the residents in Bangor East, Groomsport and Donaghadee over the past few months.
Can’t possibly walk every street, as much as I’d love to, but do reach out if there’s anything you need help with.

🌊COASTAL PATH MEETING👣

Great engagement last night at Ards and North Down Borough Council’s North Down Coastal Path Meeting🌊

A review of progress since the last meeting including signage, walkability audits and the planning application for enhancements to the coastal path between Seahill and RB were discussed. Discrepancies among the documents submitted for planning were highlighted by Alison McQueen from For Another Path and officers have undertaken to rectify this immediately.

Following a submission from Allan Smith of Donaghadee Community Development Association there was also lengthy discussion about the various statutory bodies bearing responsibility for the maintenance and preservation of the coastal path, including DfI, DAERA, Crown Estates and Council. This is a longstanding issue of concern, there are several areas where it has historically proven extremely difficult to prove liability for an area and this becomes extremely challenging when dealing with coastal erosion. This was both the concern behind and the difficulty faced when I brought my Motion for sea defences in Donaghadee to protect the harbour.

Another prime example is the seafront section of Station Road at Craigavad, where Cllr Martin McRandal last year brought a Motion to Council to compel legal investigation into ownership and liability of this section, while the sea wall and the road meanwhile deteriorate due to coastal forces. We still await the outcome of these investigations 😞

So a busy night and lots to do! Thank you to all the groups and officers who engage so productively in the these meetings. It makes a difference when residents are both knowledgeable and passionately committed🫶

The Flags Bill has passed its latest stage! 🏛️

Paula Bradshaw’s Bill aims to stop the use of flags and emblems to intimidate, divide or mark territory.

Alliance is determined to ensure our public spaces are welcoming to everyone in Northern Ireland.

Girls have won the right to wear trousers to school! 👖🎉

Young campaigners spoke up, and their persistence has paid off.

This is about dignity, comfort and safety. It shouldn't have taken a campaign in 2026, but we're glad the Minister has finally listened and done the right thing.

Great to be down at Hunt’s Park Donaghadee today for a tree planting ceremony to mark 250 years since the Declaration of Independence. 🌳
Thank you to the newly appointed US Consul General Christopher Rendo for joining us for the occasion and reflecting on the shared history of the Scots Irish.🇺🇸
