Our vision is to build one play park for each rural town so children can experience the very basics of childhood: playing in equipped purpose-built spaces.

Right now, in Ghana, this aerial photo (1st picture) depicts the sad truth about most of our communities’ “parks” or playing spaces for their children. I believe every community in Ghana must have a purpose-built park (like the 2nd picture) that is collectively maintained by the local councils and the people of each community. That is my goal with CAP-GH.

Dear All,
This project, although it has been on hold for a while now, will bear fruit in the near future. It was borne, from a place deep in my heart, of a desire for our younger generation who will become the future of Ghana. I still and always will believe that learning through play is the core of developing sound emotional and physical individuals and well balanced adults- what out nation needs for the future...and the future is what each and everyone of us makes it.

should we build parks like these?

Hi everyone. Had to hold off any plans for this project for a couple of months as I was busy with new baby, house search and eventual buying and moving house. I am now a bit less busy and can start putting together some fundraising ideas and also update the ChildrenAtPlay page on Facebook more often with progress and photos...please follow the link to the gofundme page and pledge any amount, just to get the project on it's feet! Got loads of info and quotes on playground equipment...not as cheap as I had imagined!! The plan is to start each playground with the basics and as this foundation grows, we will have add-ons. The first site is hopefully going to be at Old Akrade, near Atimpoku (akosombo) but I also had an idea about developing play areas in housing estates. Any thoughts or ideas, anyone?
