We are hosting a series of online consultation sessions for Midlothian residents to help us develop new wheelchair accessible housing targets.

We want feedback from local residents to help determine the number, type and location of homes required.

Session dates:
• Tuesday 20 October, 10am to 11am
• Wednesday 21 October, 12.30pm to 1.30pm
• Thursday 22 October, 4pm to 5pm
• Friday 23 October, 10am to 11am
• Tuesday 27 October, 12.30pm to 1.30pm
• Wednesday 28 October, 4pm to 5pm

A piece of cycling history rolled into Roslin today!

The iconic Tour de France trophy made a special appearance at Roslin Pump Track, where young cyclists were enjoying a skills session and friendly racing with the fantastic team from the Penicuik-based charity, RUTS.

As excitement builds for the Tour de France passing through Midlothian on 2 July 2027, it's inspiring to see local young people getting involved in cycling and building confidence, skills and ambitions along the way.

Our Cabinet Member for Green Spaces, Councillor Dianne Alexander is leading by example, out for a cycle with loyal companion Alba enjoying one of Midlothian's many great routes.

With the Tour de France Grand Départ coming through Midlothian on 2 July 2027, we're working with the Tour's social impact programme JOY (Journey, Opportunity, You) to inspire more people to discover the benefits of cycling, whether that's for fitness, commuting, exploring the countryside or simply having fun.

From family-friendly paths to longer cycling routes, Midlothian has plenty of opportunities to get on your bike and enjoy the great outdoors.

Midlothian residents are invited to help the council develop new wheelchair accessible housing targets for the period 2027/28 to 2031/32. Help us determine the number, type and location of homes required.

As part of this consultation, the council will also host a series of online sessions via Microsoft Teams, giving residents the opportunity to learn more about the proposals and ask questions.

Learn life-saving skills and build your confidence

Are you a Midlothian parent with a dependent child looking to develop practical skills that could help in an emergency situation? Our Emergency First Aid at Work (Non-regulated Course) will give you the knowledge and confidence to respond when it matters most.

During the course, you'll:
• Gain practical skills to handle workplace emergencies
• Learn resuscitation and AED awareness
• Understand how to respond to burns, choking and minor injuries
• Learn bleeding control techniques
• Develop skills valued by employers, volunteers and those working in low-hazard environments
• Take part in a non-regulated course (no certificate will be issued)

Course details
• Monday 16 and Thursday 19 November (both sessions must be attended)
• 10am to 3pm
• Lawfield Primary School, Mayfield, EH22 5BB
