The Wee Hours Edinburgh

A few weeks ago, after service, one of our volunteers sadly got hurt 😢. This is when we discovered the first aid kits we had in the van were woefully under stocked. One of our regular guests was there.....and has spent little bits of his benefit money over the last few weeks putting together a bigger first aid kit for us ❤️. I'm actually 😭!! Such kindness from someone who has so very, very little. He won't take a penny from us in reimbursement (believe me we are all trying!!) This is a gift from him to say thank you for all the times we've helped him over the last year. My heart just overflows ❤️. Never, ever judge. Kindness is everywhere. What you give out to the world, is what you get back. Good Morning Everyone from The Wee Hours Wee Breakfast Service Xx

An eventful night for The Wee Hours last night! All calm until a fight kicked off with a gang of drunken youths who'd been flung out a bar. Even the bar security guard was getting thrown around 😢. When they headed towards one of our young, homeless girls....well, let's just say it was the wrong move!! 8 volunteers, handful of our guests and one epic Max....and those numptys didn't know what came at them!! Police were called, numpty's scrambled, we got our girl into a hostel, bit shaken but ok. I am so, so proud that not only our volunteers, but our guests stepped in straight away to protect the young one. Please never, ever judge all homeless & rough sleepers in the same way. There are those out there who care and protect others on the street on the same way we care & protect them. Wouldn't it be so nice if everyone just cared for each other. Xx

Supporting our homeless guests, you need to be strong: mentally, emotionally & physically. Last week it seems one of our guests accidentally dropped their entire tub of multigrain loops, milk & all, into one of our storage boxes. I didn't find it until this morning....complete with green & grey fluffy bits....🤢. I can confirm....my 7am stomach is indeed strong 💪!! De-fluffed and on our way! It's weirdly calm and dry out here!! Seems like we're going to have a lovely service this morning 🙌! Do we have easter eggs for our guests? Of course! Better still, the amazing Facilities Team at The Royal Yacht BRITANNIA put aside a huge tub of scones as a treat for our guests so they'll all get an extra one this week ❤️. Thank you Tuckey!! It's night's like this that are hard. The wind is up already and we got hailstones 😟. There are folks out there who really need our help....and it's a juggle between ensuring they get it and keeping the team safe. Wee B is full and we are headed out. Not sure how long for, but we are on it 💪! We ain't Wee Warriors For Edinburgh's Homeless for nothing you know!! Stay safe all! Xx

Em...end of March you say?! Really?! Tonight's wee team are headed out wrapped up very warm to help those who aren't. Joining us tonight is a lovely pupil from Mary Erskine's who is coming along with her Dad to help out with the service ❤️. She's already done a Sunday service with us and we are delighted to have her (and Dad ☺️!) back with us again. If you are out & freezing,you know where we are! We got many thermal socks & gloves! I joined the Edinburgh homeless charity providing more than just essentials to guests Meet the Wee Hours team, providing not just essentials but hope and humanity to Edinburgh's homeless community.

This morning The Wee Hours Wee Breakfast Service was delighted to have along a pupil and her parent from Mary Erskine's to join the team. They did brilliantly and we look forward to having them back again ☺️. Special thanks also goes to the wonderful Mary Plimer who pulled together all the bags this week! So hugely appreciated! We also got to help our four legged guests this morning with a week's supply of food & snackels ☺️. Auntie Donna got many furry hugs for that! A wee trip to see our friends at Newton Parish Church Fresh Expressions afterwards and now home for my breakfast. What a great start to a Sunday! Have a great day all! Xx
