這是日菲兩國元首首度以聯合聲明表達對台海議題的高度關切，彰顯維護台海和平穩定已是國際社會的共同利益。雙方也對東海及南海情勢表達深刻憂慮，強烈反對任何企圖以武力或脅迫片面改變現狀的行徑。

台海和平穩定是印太區域安全與繁榮的關鍵，台灣將秉持 #總合外交 理念，與日本、菲律賓等理念相近國家持續深化各領域合作關係，攜手促進印太區域的民主、和平與繁榮發展🙌

MOFA Minister Lin Chia-lung commends and welcomes the joint statement issued following a summit meeting between Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae and Philippine President Bongbong Marcos in Tokyo, emphasizing the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and encouraging a peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues through dialogue

It marked the first time that the leaders of Japan and the Philippines used a joint statement to express their keen attention to Taiwan Strait issues, showing that safeguarding Taiwan Strait peace and stability is a matter of common consensus among the international community. It expresses serious concern over the situation in the East and South China Seas and strong opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force or coercion

Peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait are crucial to security and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific region. As it pursues integrated diplomacy, Taiwan will continue to deepen collaboration with like-minded nations in all areas, working together to uphold the rules-based international order and jointly advance democracy, peace, and prosperous development throughout the Indo-Pacific.🙌

Taiwan’s democracy turns 30

In 1996, Taiwan held its first direct presidential election — a defining milestone in the island’s democratic journey.

To mark the 30th anniversary, Chunghwa Post will release a commemorative stamp set on May 20 themed around “sovereignty belongs to the people.”

For many overseas Chinese communities and Taiwan supporters around the world, these stamps are more than collectibles. They carry a simple message sent from Taiwan to friends everywhere: democracy here continues to move forward.
