UPDATE 19/10/2026 - two emails received from Highways to say the potholes on GRIMSHAW STREET and LANCASTER AVENUE will be repaired in the coming weeks (see screenshots).

Quick walk around today - reported potholes on Grimshaw Street and Lancaster Avenue, plus a contaminated brown bin on Old Road, and a couple of contaminated bins on Main Street (I reported one of these a few weeks ago) + other bits now left there too, plus three seperate fly tips on Henry Street (NO2 canistwrs, 3 mattresses, furniture - these might even be linked to the large fly tip near Failsworth Park yesterday that Cllr Brooks reported)

A couple of tweaks to street furniture were completed this week:

🚮As a trial, the bin outside Lord Lane playing field has been moved from the bus stop, down to the small gate due to the amount of litter accumulating there.

🚮A bin has now been placed next to the bus stop near Tesco car park (opposite Henry Street).

ℹ️Bollards have now been placed at the junction of Mellor Street and Oldham Road, as cars were parking on the double yellow lines on the left causing an obstruction to other cars entering or leaving Mellor Street (although on taking a photo today, a van had still decided to park there!).

My bi-weekly solo local litter pick resulted in three large bags in a three hour clean up.

I chatted to a couple of elderly people who couldn't believe the amount of litter nowadays and the lack of bins - they both said there was one at every bus stop years ago.
