Rossmere Ward Labour are glad to see Hartlepool Police are working to tackle anti-social behaviour in our park 👏
Jonathan Brash MP for Hartlepool has made this a major priority for his team for several months, and I'm sure everyone is glad to see a dispersal order in place today
Please make sure to report any incidents and help tackle anti-social behaviour in our community 🚨
❗Second dispersal order in place in Hartlepool due to “completely unacceptable” antisocial behaviour❗
A second dispersal order is now in place in Hartlepool due to recent issues with young people taking part in antisocial behaviour and criminal damage including graffiti in the town’s parks.
📍The order covers the area in and around the Rossmere Park and is again in response to reports that young people are gathering in large groups leading to those who simply want to enjoy the green spaces feeling intimidated by youngsters causing noise, disorder and with general criminality taking place.
🗣️Neighbourhoods Inspector Adrian Dack said: “Unfortunately we are seeing ongoing issues of general nuisance, crime and costly damage to public property and community facilities in our parks which is affecting others’ peaceful enjoyment of the town’s green spaces.
“We’re working with our local authority partners and the community itself to address the issues ,and carry out problem solving via engagement as well as by enforcement.
“Officers engage with youngsters wherever possible and explain to them the consequences of becoming involved in this type of completely unacceptable behaviour, there are also targeted interventions with young people who have already been identified and we’re conducting high visibility patrols to deter issues and provide a reassuring presence for the public.
“Under the terms of a dispersal order, my officers will not hesitate to direct anyone involved or suspected of becoming involved in ASB or crime to leave the area immediately and if they return within the 48-hour period, they could be arrested.
“Ultimately, the use of these powers seeks to protect those who want - and are entitled - to use the parks for their legitimate purpose.”
ℹ️The dispersal order came into place at 3pm today, Saturday 3rd October, and covers:
Owton Manor Lane, Catcote Road, Brierton Lane Stockton Road back to Owton Manor Lane.
