And..... that's a wrap on our 2026 opening season!

We are now closed for the Winter and will re-open in April next year with two brand new displays exploring more stories from the school. 🌱

And don't worry, even though our doors are closed we will continue to share fascinating stories and behind the scenes content across our socials. 📸

Thank you to all our visitors for supporting us this year, and we can't wait to welcome you back in 2027!

** Update - we have decided to open for one more day than planned this year, which means we will be open tomorrow, Sunday 1st November! **

📣 Don't miss out on your chance to visit Hawkshead Grammar School before we close for the winter!

Our last day of opening will be November 1st, so there's not long left to explore the school and our current exhibitions. 🍂

Happy National Poetry Day! ✍️

This year's theme is "wonder," an idea that is expressed through much of Wordsworth's poetry, including this poem written in 1807, which can be found painted onto the walls of Hawkshead Grammar School. 🌈

"My heart leaps up when I behold
A Rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is father of the man;
And I wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety."

Join us on the 26th October for an evening of folklore and spooky tales from the Lake District, with none other than 'The Director' from Hawkshead's Tallow Tales. 🕯️

Tickets also include a final chance to visit our current exhibitions and historic library before we close for the winter. Light refreshments will be provided.
