Update I have just seen been told about the signs. I am getting onto the council and Yorkshire water now to get this stopped.
🚨Fiveways update🚨
I’ve had an influx of emails and messages from concerned residents about the future use of the old Fiveways pubs following speculation on social media. As you would expect, working alongside Gill & Tracy - Newington & Gipsyville Labour Councillors, I went out to find the facts before stirring up anger. I contacted the leaseholder and they have assured me it’s not going to be a v**e shop, a car wash or barbers shop. They sent me the below statement to share with residents.
Leaseholder statement-
“We are writing as the new leaseholders of the premises at Fiveways, Hull, to clarify the intended use of the property.
The premises will be used solely as a car sales. There will be no vehicle repairs, servicing, mechanical work, or other activities that would be expected to create excessive noise, disturbance, or inconvenience to neighbouring residents.
We intend to operate the showroom professionally and responsibly and will make every effort to ensure that the business has no adverse effect on the surrounding area or neighbouring properties.
We are very conscious of the importance of being considerate to local residents and will manage customer and vehicle movements responsibly. We want to maintain a positive relationship with our neighbours and the local community.
We hope this statement provides reassurance that the premises will be used simply as a car sales and that the proposed use will not negatively affect neighbouring properties.
Yours faithfully,
The New Leaseholders
Fiveways, Hull”
Hopefully this helps put an end to some of the speculation and gives residents the reassurance they’ve been asking for. Making people angry and creating division without knowing the truth is not how I do politics.
I know that some local councillors have shared misleading claims publicly. Now that we have clear information from the leaseholder, I hope they’ll do the responsible thing and correct the record, so we can put a stop to any further unnecessary worry or confusion and I urge them in the future to think about the impact on the community before spreading rumours.
