Recently, our team attended the Community Connect & Support Fair at Jubilee Church in Ilford, organised by Redbridge Foodbank. The free community event brought together a wide range of organisations offering guidance and support on benefits, debt management, employment, education, health and wellbeing, and specialist services for women and families.

It was great to meet local residents and promote the services we provide at Community Action Redbridge. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event such a valuable day for the community.

Tuberculosis (TB) is preventable and curable with early diagnosis and treatment.

Persistent night sweats can be one of the signs of TB — don’t ignore symptoms that last longer than expected.

At Community Action Redbridge, we’re helping local communities access trusted health information, reduce stigma, and improve wellbeing through awareness and community engagement. Talking openly about TB helps people seek support sooner, stay informed, and protect their health.

🍲✨ Connection through cooking ✨🍲

Our Redbridge Cooking Connections project recently hosted its first interactive cooking session with service users from Via, a local drug and alcohol support charity in Redbridge.

Participants came together to prepare a delicious chickpea & mushroom pilaf, enjoy a shared lunch and build connections through food, conversation and community.

We sourced our ingredients from the Ilford Community Grocer, whose friendly and efficient service helped our budget go even further. Service users were also encouraged to shop there themselves to access affordable ingredients and support healthy cooking at home.

Thanks to Redbridge Food Partnership, everyone also received a resource kit packed with kitchen essentials to help support healthy cooking at home.

A fantastic collaborative session celebrating wellbeing, diversity and affordable healthy eating. Also featured in the East London Times: https://eastlondontimes.co.uk/local/redbridge/redbridge-cooking-connections-boosts-wellbeing-with-food/

At Community Action Redbridge, we believe young people should be part of shaping the services that affect their lives.

Through the PANELS Project, young advisors worked alongside professionals and community organisations to explore how participation can improve health and wellbeing services for under-served young people across North East London. Working collaboratively the project highlighted the importance of inclusive engagement and co-production in shaping better systems and services.

PANELS, a project co-led by Community Action Redbridge, young people, and academic partners from the University of Hertfordshire , hosted by NE London NHS Trust and funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research. The project brings together local young people and those working with them to make health and care services more responsive, inclusive, and shaped by the voices of underserved young people who live, work, or study in Redbridge.

Last week, our Volunteering Project partnered with Redbridge Institute to deliver an engaging Introduction to Volunteering workshop for learners.

We were delighted to welcome our Volunteer Champion, Neerja, who shared her personal volunteering journey with participants. We also congratulate Neerja on reaching her two-year volunteering milestone. Her inspiring story highlighted the many benefits volunteering can bring, including increased confidence, personal growth, and the development of valuable skills.

The workshop provided a friendly and informative introduction to volunteering, helping learners explore the wide range of opportunities available within the community.

The session was highly interactive, with learners sharing their interests, experiences, and aspirations for volunteering. Participants received practical guidance on managing expectations and understanding how volunteering can support personal development and pathways into employment.

Participant Feedback

“The session explained volunteering in a clear manner – I feel much better informed.”

“Very positive approach, good information.”

“I received a lot of useful information.”

“Well-explained workshop – I would have liked it to be longer.
