Ar Gàradh Gardeners for good. Supporting our community through practical garden, ground care and outdoor wellbeing. www.goodhub.com/go/argaradh

Heather is hard to beat 🌿💜

A brilliant ground cover plant that creates a dense carpet of colour while helping suppress weeds and protect the soil. Tough, low-growing and instantly recognisable, it gives any garden that iconic Highland look.

Beautiful, practical and made for our landscape.

Really looking forward to Highland Spotlight on Tuesday and proud to have Ar Gàradh included in this year’s Rising Stars.

It’s been a pretty incredible few months for us, so it’ll be great to share what we’re building, meet new people and hopefully make some new connections along the way.

If you’re heading along, come and say hello!

🌟 Meet the Rising Stars of Highland business

Highland Spotlight is bringing together seven ambitious young entrepreneurs in its Rising Stars zone, at this year’s Highland Spotlight, created in collaboration with Developing the Young Workforce Inverness & Central Highland.

From handcrafted Highland-inspired dogwear and bridal styling to community horticulture, Scottish food experiences, business support, catering equipment and artisan chocolate, these emerging businesses are already making their mark - and looking to build new connections, partnerships and opportunities.

Meet Daisy, Leah, Kurtis, Anna, Lauren, Jesse and Angus at Highland Spotlight and discover the people and businesses shaping the next generation of Highland enterprise - https://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/meet-this-year-s-rising-stars-who-will-be-at-highland-spotli-445170/

Really grateful to Susy MacAulay and The Press and Journal for taking the time to tell the story behind Ar Gàradh.

This piece goes beyond what we’re doing now and shares a bit about my own background, the journey that led to Ar Gàradh, and why this work means so much to me personally.

It’s not always easy sharing the more personal parts of your story, but they are a huge part of why Ar Gàradh exists and why I believe so strongly in the difference gardens, nature and a bit of support can make in people’s lives.

Susy has captured that journey incredibly well, and I’m really grateful for the care she took in telling it.

If you have a few minutes, I’d really appreciate you giving it a read. 🌱💚

Great to officially join Inverness Chamber of Commerce

Looking forward to building new connections, collaborating with local organisations and continuing to grow Ar Gàradh impact across the Highlands.

Thanks for the warm welcome 🤗

✨New Member Announcement✨

A warm welcome to new Chamber member Ar Gàradh!

Ar Gàradh is a Community Interest Company using horticulture to improve lives across the Highlands. Alongside providing professional gardening and grounds maintenance services, the organisation reinvests its income into delivering free garden support for vulnerable people, therapeutic gardening workshops, and projects that restore neglected community green spaces.

Kurtis McMillan, Founding Director said, "Joining Inverness Chamber of Commerce is an exciting milestone for Ar Gàradh. We're looking forward to becoming part of the Chamber community, building meaningful relationships with local businesses and organisations, and exploring opportunities to collaborate.

"Our vision has always been that businesses can be a force for good. Every commercial contract we secure helps us expand our community work, so we're excited to connect with organisations that share a passion for strengthening communities across the Highlands."

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Drew Hendry for his Growth For Good podcast.

It was a great opportunity to share the story behind Àr Gàradh, what we’re trying to achieve through community gardening, and some of the experiences in my own life that inspired me to start the organisation in the first place.

Listening back now, it’s incredible to think how much has changed in such a short space of time. Since recording, we’ve supported more vulnerable gardens, built more workshops, welcomed new supporters, and grown some fantastic partnerships with organisations and businesses who share our vision for stronger, more connected communities.

The collaborations, conversations and opportunities that continue to emerge show what’s possible when people work together around a shared purpose.

A huge thank you to Drew for the opportunity to tell our story and for shining a light on community-led initiatives across the Highlands.

If you’d like to hear more about the journey so far, the podcast is available here:
