🎭🏗️ An exciting look behind the scenes at the Alexandra Arts Centre!
I was delighted to arrange a tour of the Alexandra Theatre redevelopment in Bognor Regis to see first-hand how work is progressing. I also extended an invitation to fellow councillors Jill Long and Dr James Walsh, who joined me for the visit.
It was fantastic to see just how much progress has been made and, perhaps more importantly, the incredible amount of thought and planning going into this major investment.
With an improved auditorium, new studio spaces and much better facilities, this really will be a greatly enhanced cultural asset for Bognor Regis and the wider Arun district when hopefully it opens in Spring 2027. 🎭
We even had the opportunity to enjoy the views across Bognor Regis from the roof! It was particularly interesting to look down towards The Arcade and consider the possibilities for its future as part of the town's wider regeneration.
And, of course, I haven't forgotten our own Windmill Theatre in Littlehampton! I'm pleased that Arun District Council has agreed spending in its budget to investigate potential improvements to the venue. This important first step will help us understand what needs doing, explore the options and establish where we should begin.
As someone passionate about theatre and the arts, it's wonderful to see investment in our cultural facilities, and I'm keen to see both our towns benefit.
