Safehands Liverpool provide accommodation and support for children who are leaving local authority care. We provide bespoke support packages which are delivered on a floating support basis. This will be determined by the local authority when requesting a placement with Safehands Liverpool.
As part of a young person’s placement agreement with us they will be required to engage in a support programme that covers life skills required to manage their own tenancy once they become 18 years old. The support programme covers and requires evidence the young person can budget on a weekly basis, are able to complete a weekly shopping plan which incorporates healthy eating. The young person can pay their utilities each week/fortnight and can maintain their accommodation to the required standard, this work is evidenced through weekly support meetings and health & safety checks

Our leaving care services offer a range of support for young people who are leaving local authority care. By using a person-centered approach to Independent Living Skills, Planning and assessment, we aim to ensure that outcomes are transformed – in education, training, employment, health and accommodation. Our care leaver services include:

Floating support: Accommodation is provided to the young person by Safehands Liverpool, staff are not on site on a 24/7 basis, instead staff provide support to the individual on a 1 hour up to 8-hour floating support package, this is gradually decreased over a period, dependant on the young person’s development within their support programme. Packages of floating support can be adapted at any time throughout the programme.

Floating Support Plus: young care leavers aged 16+, staff support young people to learn independent living skills within their own properties provided by Safehands Liverpool, staff support the young person on a floating support basis, young people are assisted to maintain their properties in accordance with health & safety regulations & Safehands Liverpool policies & procedures. Staff support the young person to claim universal credits and support the individual to budget their income after paying for their utilities. Young people may require assistance/support to complete their weekly/fortnightly shopping, young people are supported to complete a healthy menu plan incorporating their dietary requirements and as far as reasonably practicable use fresh ingredients within their weekly/fortnightly menu plan.
