So much happening in Sefton to celebrate Pride Month 2026!
Our libraries are and will continue to be welcoming spaces for all, and we are constantly developing our collection to reflect the need for a range of voices in literature and non-fiction.

ποΈ Pride (2014) at The Plaza!
A special pride screening of... Pride is presented in collaboration with Sefton Councilβs Rainbow Network. The film celebrates the story of how gay and le***an activists worked alongside the National Union of Mineworkers during strikes in the summer of 1984, and has become an instant modern classic of British cinema.
Tickets available via plazacinema.org.uk for a reduced pride of Β£4.
We're delighted that on Friday 26th June 2026 at 4:30pm, the Network's Rainbow Book Club will meet at Crosby Library to read the book of the film, Pride by Tim Tate, all welcome!

You might thing cooking in libraries is a little bizarre but it's a rather regular occurrence at Sefton libraries! Keep your eye out for chopping club- a place where people come together to make connections and bond over creating and enjoying delicious meals. Chopping club is run by .the.library_ and hosted at various Sefton libraries.

The Apothecary Diaries is an Imperial Chinese-inspired mystery series. πΊβ οΈπͺ΄
It follows Maomao, the protagonist, a cynical, poison obsessed herbalist, who is kidnapped and sold into service as a palace maid. Using her sharp wits and medical expertise, she secretly solves court conspiracies and medical mysteries alongside a handsome, high-ranking palace official.
It includes 8 available light novels in English but in total there are 16 volumes. There is also a Manga coming out at the same time which has 2 separate ongoing adaptations. The anime, light novels and manga are set in the Tang Dynasty in China (618-907 CE), was an imperial dynasty considered a golden age of Chinese civilization.
I think these books would appeal to 13 year olds and above because I found it humorous and interesting to learn about herbs and plants.
If you would like to browse our selection of Manga titles, just have a look at our catalogue: https://catalogue.sefton.gov.uk/

We welcomed for a gorgeous session on natural dyeing πΏ Participants saved and foraged materials such as onion skins and buddleja to bring along and Maggie showed us how to use them to create an all natural and sustainable dye. Thank you to for supporting the programme π We'd love to do this again, maybe we could find some exciting things in our community garden to experiment with!
