Last weekend, students from LURNU took part in this year's leadership weekend at Altcar Training Camp.

Students took part in numerous practical leadership tests (PLT's) testing leadership ability and working towards achieving level 5 NVQ in command leadership and management accredited by the chartered management institute. Received a unique insight into military life from lectures in various fieldcraft and navigation courtesy of RMR Manchester.

The weekend offers students the ability to develop valuable life skills not offered during university classes such as leadership, confidence and teamwork which will go on to help achieve their future careers either civilian or military.

Earlier this year OCs and Staff of Liverpool URNU and Oxford URNU took part in the weapons engineer officer insight scheme visit to Barrow-in-Furness pictures standing on the casing of HMS AUDACIOUS.

The URNU is a great way to gain an insight into life in all branches of the naval service.

"The aim of the URNU is to develop an understanding of the Naval Service in undergraduates, so that those who go into civilian employment are positive advocates thereof and to facilitate a Naval Career for those who chose one."
