Tomorrow (30/4/2014) will be the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for Liverpool Malaysian Society (LMS)!!!! This will be the opportunity to cast your votes and to decide the future of LMS. For those who are interested to apply for a post of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Event manager, and Head of Sports and Welfare, the application deadline has been extended to 30 April 2014, 5pm.
The details of AGM are as follow:
Date: 30th of April (Wed)
Time: 8pm-10pm
Venue: Engine Room, Liverpool Students' Union, The Haigh Building, Maryland Street, L1 9DE (LJMU Student Union)

IT'S FINALLY HERE! kick-off the restart of term with the cultural Malaysian Night 2014!

The event will start off with fun Malaysian activities followed by a 3-course dinner* (starter, main, dessert)**. During the dinner, entertaining Malaysian performances will be held on stage to give you the full Malaysian Experience.

every attendant will get a lovely Malaysian keyring brought to you from our home country! :D

on top of that, we have a ton of prizes to give away! stand a chance to win them in the lucky draw as well as games to be held!

tickets are for ONLY £9 for MSoc members, £12 for non-MSoc members and £15 at the door!

Hi everyone!!!

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Liverpool Malaysian Society (LMS) is back!! Time for the baton to be passed onto a new committee!!! We are announcing that nominations for committee member seats are now opened!!!

It will be held on the:
Date: 30th of April (Wed)
Time: 8pm-10pm
Venue: Engine Room, Liverpool Students' Union, The Haigh Building, Maryland Street, L1 9DE (LJMU Student Union)

1. The positions open for nomination are as stated below: (1 seat per post)
· President
· Vice President
· Secretary
· Treasurer
· Event manager
· Head of Sports and Welfare Bureau

2. Application for the aforementioned posts is open for all students from University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University, and Liverpool Hope University.

3. Candidates for the post of Presidents and Vice President are required to give a 10 minute speech prior to votings. Candidates for the post of Secretary, Treasurer, Event manager and Head of Sports and Welfare Bureau are required to give a 5 minute speech prior to votings. After the speech, there will be a Q & A session for every candidate.

4. A brief outline of the duties of all posts is attached onto this email. Do take a moment to read through. (can also refer to LMS Constitution Article 6)

Those who are interested in the posts aforementioned, please send your details to [email protected] latest by 12.00am, 29 April 2014(Tuesday).

Di harap semua warga LMS berada di dalam keadaan sihat sejahtera.

Kebelakangan ini, telinga dan mata sering dihidangkan dengan kisah kekejaman dan penindasan yang berlaku di negara saudara kita di Syria. Konflik berdarah di Hama pada tahun 1982 mengorbankan hampir 46000 ribu penduduk menyebabkan rakyat Syria mendiamkan diri setelah sekian lama. Sejak 3 tahun yang lalu, kebangkitan rakyat Syria bermula akibat dari kezaliman dan kekejaman regim Assad yang semakin menjadi-jadi sehingga kini. Pembunuhan secara beramai-ramai, penindasan yang kejam terhadap kaum wanita dan anak-anak kecil dan baru-baru ini, serangan gas kimia yang membunuh ribuan rakyat Syria dalam keadaan yang sangat menderita dan menyayat hati. Mereka kehilangan ahli keluarga mereka, kehilangan tempat tinggal, tiada bekalan makanan dan kekurangan bekalan ubat-ubatan. Apakah kita hanya perlu mendiamkan diri dengan isu kekejaman ini?

“Barangsiapa yang tidak mengambil tahu hal orang Islam yang lain, maka bukan dari kalangan KAMI”dan ingatlah selalu akan tempat kembali bagi mereka yang zalim”

Untuk pergi ke Syria dan membantu saudara-saurada kita di sana, mungkin satu perkara yang mustahil. Namun, kita mampu melakukan sesuatu dari sini walaupun pengorbanan kita itu tidak dapat menampung segala keperluan mereka. Sekurang-kurangnya ia dapat membantu meringankan beban mereka sedikit demi sedikit dan adalah tanggungjawab kita untuk menunaikan hak mereka dengan menghulurkan bantuan semampu kita.

Di sini, kami mengalu-alukan anda semua untuk membuat sumbangan seikhlas hati anda dan sumbangan ini akan disalurkan kepada mangsa kekejaman di Syria untuk menampung beban bekalan makanan, ubat-ubatan dan keperluan mereka di sana.

Semoga ALLAH meredhai segala usaha kita untuk membantu saudara kita di SYRIA.

Tidak lupa juga mari kita berdoa agar semua penumpang pesawat MAS MH370 berada dalam keadaan selamat dan berjaya ditemui.

Ladies and gentlemen. From the smooth turf pitch in Kensington Sports Centre to the slippery bowling alleys, BSL 2014 has provided countless unforgettable and inspiring sporting moments, while subtly instil the feeling of togetherness among us Malaysians residing/studying in Liverpool. The time is finally here for us to wrap up the tournament by announcing the Champions for BSL 2014. The list below shows how it stands after the end of all 7 sports of various categories:

Champion: Paul McCartney (23 points)
Runner up: George Harrison (17 points)
2nd Runner Up: Ringo Star (13 points)
4th place: John Lennon (9 points)

Massive congratulations to PAUL McCARTNEY for successfully defending the title for two successive years and for the rest, you all have shown great sportsmanship throughout the tournament and that's all that matters.

Medals will be given to winners in a ceremony that will be held in a later date. For now, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who have made this tournament a success and we wish you all the best. Lads and lasses, its time to bid you farewell. See you again in BSL 2015!

Hey everyone. Don't forget to register for bowling tournament which will be held at Hollywood Bowl (L13 1EW) this Wednesday (12th March 2014) at 7.30 pm. We will close the registration at midnight today, so please register now people if you wish to represent your respective houses! Hurry up!:)
