A Suggested Bible Reading for Lodge Meetings in June 2026
Psalm 2

As our blessed Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, fulfils the threefold offices of being our prophet, our priest and our king, and in this Messianic psalm, we find prophecy concerning the kingship of our Lord and Redeemer.

The psalmist here declares to us the certainty of the Lord Jesus Christ’s kingdom, and he links your eternal destiny to trusting in him for salvation. There is always opposition to true biblical religion, and people try to suppress the truth of the word of God, but God sits on his throne in heaven, and he rules in heaven and here on earth.

God the Father sent his Son to purchase redemption for us, but is Jesus Christ your Lord and your Saviour? Do you hear his voice and follow him, showing that you are a subject of his kingdom? “Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.”

Pentecost

Pentecost is the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the beginning of the Church’s bold public witness. The disciples who had waited in prayer were filled with power from above. Wind and fire speak of God’s living presence: unseen, holy, and mighty.

These Bible verses remind us that the Church is not sustained by tradition alone, organisation alone, or human strength alone. We need the Holy Spirit to make Christ known, deepen our worship, strengthen our unity, and send us into the world with courage.

Pentecost is not only a past event; it is a continuing call for the Church to be renewed by the Spirit and faithful to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Bible Verses: Acts 2:1–4, KJV
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Upper Room Prayer

After the Ascension, the disciples returned to Jerusalem and gathered in prayer. This is the Church waiting for Pentecost: not noisy, powerful, or self-assured, but obedient, united, and prayerful.

Acts shows us a community marked by common prayer, shared discernment, and trust in God’s guidance. This pattern speaks strongly to Christian life, where prayer, Scripture, order, and fellowship shape the Church’s witness.

Even the choosing of Matthias was not treated as mere administration. It was placed before God as part of the apostolic witness to Christ’s resurrection.

The gathered Church teaches us that renewal begins in humble dependence. Before there was public preaching at Pentecost, there was prayer in the upper room.

Bible Verse: Acts 1:14, KJV
These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
