As a partner of Mi, Local Solutions is working with Carers in Liverpool to promote use of and access to Life Enhancing Technologies (LETs).
Local Solutions is a partner of the new Mi (More Independent) initiative which offers the latest ‘Life Enhancing Technologies’ available to help people live independently and feel safe in their own home. Not only will the life enhancing technologies contribute in allowing an individual to live more independently and enabling them to take control of their own health, the technologies can also provi
de reassurance and more independence for carers. All of the life enhancing technologies are available to be viewed at The Smart House, which is situated on the first floor of the Museum at the Pier Head. This enables each visitor to the Smart House a whistle stop tour with includes a demonstration of each piece of equipment and how it can support an individual. Some of the technologies available to be viewed at the Smart House are a voice prompt that reminds you to take your keys with you when you go out, alarms linked to a 24-hour helpline in case of a fall, fire or other emergency and a touch screen control unit that even opens and closes your curtains! Therefore Liverpool Carers Centre which is apart of Local Solutions are working alongside the Mi initiative in supporting Carers and people who they care for in terms of providing information regarding the technologies and other services available to them. The carers centre works to improve the quality of life of unpaid carers in Liverpool by delivering support services, such as carers assessments to ensure the needs of the carer are met. Activities also take place within the Carers Centre to promote good health and well being. They include;
