Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, Leader of the Hackney Labour Group of Councillors, has paid tribute to Cllr Sharon Patrick, Speaker (civic mayor) from 2025/26 who stood down at the Council’s recent AGM:
“Sharon, we want to thank you for your dedication in your role as Speaker. You have been a committed Councillor for more than 30 years, and have been very active in the community, helping to build the local Tenants and Residents Association, and supporting the local Tenant Management Organisation (TMO), as well as helping many people locally with their problems.

"An excellent model of caring and advocacy.

“As Speaker you have fundraised an amazing £20,000 for your three charities and supported them with passion: Hackney Marsh Partnership, Pedro Club and Hackney Food Bank. You leave the Council as Honorary Mother of the Chamber and continue as one of the honorary mothers in the community as you continue to advocate for others.

“We also wish the new Speaker and Deputy Speaker well in their new roles.“

Well done to Hackney Labour's youngest councillor, Dan Rea who won in Victoria ward.
He says: 'It still hasn't quite sunk in, 23 years old and a councillor. 🗳️✨
It's been an exhausting few months, but I am incredibly honoured to share that I've been elected to represent Victoria ward on Hackney Council.
A huge thank you to everyone who has placed their trust in me. I'm also deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way.
Now the real work starts.'🌹
