Ever had that little voice saying “I can’t do this”? 💭

You’re not the only one.

Even after more than 30 years in employment services, our CEO of Employment Services, Julie Graham, admits there have been moments in every leadership role where she’s wondered whether she really belonged there.

In her latest blog, Julie shares why self-doubt often appears when we’re trying something new, taking on more responsibility or stepping outside our comfort zones.

Her message? That uncomfortable feeling doesn’t always mean you’re failing. Sometimes it means you’re growing. 🌱

Julie also shares how mentors, recognising your wins and having someone else believe in your potential can help turn a confidence wobble into an opportunity to develop.

A story has the power to start an even more powerful conversation.

That’s exactly what happened when our Justice teams brought the documentary Holloway to six regions across England.

🎥 The film follows six women returning to the former Holloway Prison and reflecting on experiences including trauma, resilience, recovery and healing. After each screening, local organisations, professionals and people with lived experience came together to talk about what better support for women could look like.

The events also celebrated women completing our Peer Mentor Training Programme, ready to use their own experiences to support others facing similar challenges 💛

Across every event, one message came through clearly: we can achieve more when we listen, learn and work together.

Sometimes wellbeing looks like talking things through. Sometimes it looks like a walk, a boxing session… or even a dip in some very cold water! 🥶

For Danny, a Recovery Guide for Commissioned Rehabilitative Services, movement has played an important role in his own wellbeing and recovery. Now, he's using that lived experience to support men on probation.

Through boxing, wellbeing walks, fitness and safely planned cold-water sessions, Danny creates opportunities for people to step outside their usual environment, talk openly and challenge what they believe they're capable of.

As Danny puts it:

💬“My lived experience shapes how I work: meeting lads where they are, without talking down to them, showing them change is possible.”

A day of learning, connection and some brilliant conversations! 🧠💬

Our team had a great time at the Royal College of Paramedics Inaugural Mental Health Conference, connecting with clinicians, partners and others working across health and wellbeing.

It was a valuable chance to hear different perspectives, learn from expertise across the sector and discuss how we can continue improving support for people's mental health and wellbeing.

A particular highlight was the keynote from Simon Weston CBE, who shared his experiences of adversity, recovery and personal growth following life-changing injuries during the Falklands War, bringing a powerful lived-experience perspective to the day’s conversations.

Events like these are a great reminder of what can happen when organisations come together, share what they know and learn from each other.

Thanks to everyone we met along the way! 👏

🤔 Sometimes the biggest changes start with a simple question:

"Who are we not supporting as well as we could?"

That’s the question Laura Roberts, Head of Delivery for the North West, asked when she began looking at how employment services could better support for people with autism and other forms of neurodivergence.

💛 After listening to participants and families, she helped introduce quieter spaces, sensory aids, flexible appointments and more personalised support.

The impact has been incredible, helping people feel understood, build confidence and move towards employment in ways that work for them.

The work also led to the achievement of National Autistic Society Autism Accreditation, recognising a long-term commitment to inclusive, person-centred support 👏

One participant said:

💬“I can take my time, they don’t rush me or put me under any pressure.”

Your next career move could help someone else make their first 👏

Some of our most important roles in helping people into work are our employer-facing roles – those people working with employers to open doors to new talent.

🌱 See and champion the potential in poeple looking for work, including young people.

And there’s plenty to gain from building your own career with Ingeus too. As one of our team members, Heidi, shares.
