This years in London celebrations + parade and annual event 06/02 has been cancelled due to considerations of large numbers of public gathering.

Following lengthy consultations with our local agency partners, the LCCA has decided that for the second year running, the traditional London Chinese New Year 2022 celebrations cannot take place in their accustomed manner, considering the very large numbers of the public drawn to the annual event.

This has not been an easy decision for us. However, the health, safety, and well-being of everyone must come first.

In wake of this news, we take inspiration from the upcoming Lunar New Year’s animal zodiac. 2022 is the Year of the Tiger; they are kind, benevolent, courageous, and have rich emotions. No matter how many obstacles they face, they never give up. 🐅

Although the team here at LCCA and the whole country face ongoing uncertainty regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, we keep in mind the symbolism of Chinese New Year celebrations, Hope, Harmony, Home and Health.
We want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the NHS, health workers and others whose ongoing efforts and hard work keep us all safe. We express our heartfelt gratitude and utmost admiration for their dedication during these challenging times.

From all of us here at the London Chinatown Chinese Association, we wish you and your loved ones a prosperous Year of the Tiger 2022 and hope your new year is abundant with enjoyable times and good health.

Please keep checking the Visit London website and our social media channels for further announcements about the alternative programme of events. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Warmest regards, LCCA.
