The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development and the British High Commission Maseru are pleased to introduce and support the rollout of the International Trade Centre's Making Trade Happen programme in Lesotho.

Funded by the UK Government, the programme aims to strengthen the understanding of Business Support Organisations and trade professionals on the UK's Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), enabling them to better support Basotho exporters seeking opportunities in the UK market.

Lesotho is one of only eight countries selected to participate in this initiative.

Eligible organisations are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to become DCTS Master Trainers and help build lasting national capacity in support of export growth, trade facilitation and market access.

Did you know? Under the UK-SACUM Economic Partnership Agreement, many goods exported from Lesotho can enter the UK duty-free and quota-free. The Making Trade Happen programme will help strengthen local capacity to ensure that more Basotho businesses can take advantage of these opportunities and grow their exports.

📅 Applications close 30 October 2026

Together, we can enable more Basotho businesses to access international markets and unlock new opportunities for growth.

Congratulations once again to Ms Palesa Litsiba, Lesotho's 2026/27 Chevening Scholar, who has now begun her MSc in Cyber Security at the University of Bradford.

Over the weekend, Palesa joined fellow Chevening Scholars from around the world in London for Chevening Orientation 2026, marking the official start of an exciting year of study, leadership development, and global networking.

Palesa's passion for strengthening cybersecurity, supporting young people in technology, and encouraging more Basotho women to pursue careers in STEM reflects the values at the heart of the Chevening programme.

We wish her every success as she embarks on this journey and look forward to seeing the impact she will make for Lesotho in the years ahead.

Did you know? The Lesotho Red Cross Society is 59 years old.

The High Commissioner met with Secretary General Ntate Sechaba Mokhameleli and President of the Board Ntate Tseliso Lesenya to discuss humanitarian action, volunteerism, and strengthening preparedness for future challenges.

As the Society looks ahead to its 60th anniversary, it continues to play a vital role in supporting communities across Lesotho. A special pleasure to reconnect with Chevening alumnus Ntate Lesenya.
