This evening I attended a meeting with representatives from Brompton Barracks, , & to update military families on Tuesday's incident & answer their Qs. Thank you to everyone who attended & all the services who have worked so well together.

Suspect in court charged with attempted murder of soldier in Gillingham Anthony Esan, 24, is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

My joint statement with Naushabah Khan MP and Tris Osborne, recognising that residents across Medway will be worried by this horrific incident and want to support the victim, his family and the Armed Forces community in Brompton.

Horrified to hear of the attack on a soldier at Sally Port Gardens near Brompton Barracks. My thoughts are with the victim and his family. Kent Police are keeping me updated, and I urge anyone who witnessed the attack or who has relevant information to contact them.
