I’m absolutely LOVING sage green cakes at the moment, like this tall two tier cake I delivered Sunday for Ruben and Alex’s confirmation, comprised of my award winning chocolate fudge cake on the bottom tier, and vanilla cake on the top.
Paired with artificial eucalyptus and dried flowers, it has such a nature vibe, perfect for spring/summer.
A big thank you to Paula, and I hope everyone had a fantastic day Sunday. The food smelled absolutely delicious, and the curious children gathered around me as I set up were absolutely adorable! Such polite and helpful little angels!
Hopefully everyone survived the heat!

I absolutely LOVE making wedding cakes which are completely different from traditional cakes.
Yesterday, I got to do just that.
I delivered this three tier, all vegan, Pokémon and rainbow themed wedding cake to Dorney Court: Weddings & Events in Windsor yesterday morning, and what a beautiful venue it was!
I set up the cake in the gorgeous Windsor countryside, whilst being serenaded by birdsong and horses.
Stunning.
And what’s more, I received a fantastic email from the happy couple today, thanking me for my efforts. 🥰

Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of delivering this dessert table to Alicia and Josh for their wedding day, at the gorgeous Southdowns Manor.
The happy couple asked for a floral cake centrepiece, with macarons, cupcakes and cookies, and gave me a little creative control.
The macaron towers have been finished with wafer paper lace and small sugar roses.
The cupcakes were made to match the brides dresses, in both colour and texture.
The cookies were finished with blush pink details on a white lustre background.
And the wedding cake, comprised of my award winning chocolate fudge cake in the bottom tier, Biscoff cake in the middle tier, and Oreo cake in the top tier, was adorned with intricate handmade sugar flowers, wafer paper lace, and delicate sugar leaves.
Kai lovingly made all the tiny paper wish stars in the heart jars, and the table was decorated with jars of sweets and meringues.
This table was an absolute labour of love, and I can’t wait to see the official photos from the big day!

Another charity donation, this time a little smaller than the bunny 😂
Northwood Area Women’s Club held a fundraiser yesterday for Michael Sobell Hospice, and the lovely Jean who organises it all asked if I could provide some cake slices to sell for dessert after their meal.
Absolutely!
There was one or two gluten free requests, so I thought I’d make all the cakes without gluten and give those ladies a bit more choice.
And just incase anyone fancied something to take home, a batch of my all butter shortbread. 🥰
I’d like to send our love and well wishes to Jean, who was unfortunately badly injured earlier this week, and was unable to collect the order.
I hope your recovery goes smoothly, and you’re back up and feeling better soon. # # #

“Why didn’t you just use a print?”
Because I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone, and give painting a go.
As a friend said, cake makers often find themselves saying “I can make a cake, but I’m rubbish at art”.
Well I failed my GCSE art. Catastrophically.
Not only because I was rubbish, but also because I couldn’t explain my piece in writing.
I was restricted to materials, size, subjects, and techniques, so when it came to writing about my art, I couldn’t find the words.
Creative freedom provides opportunities to grow, learn and push ourselves to try things we believed we couldn’t do, and in turn, it keeps us in love with this job.
Push yourself a little further, you may just find you’re really good at something! 🥰

When the lovely Kate Hoyle asked me to make a cake for both her birthday, and to celebrate 8 years of her business, I knew it had to be special.
I was given a brief of Monet vibes, birds and feathers to represent freedom, the colour scheme of her business, and to include beautiful Noodles the Chow Chow, who sadly passed away last year.
I started with so many ideas, and at the very last minute, decided to do something I’ve never done, and paint.
Everything on the cake has been fully free hand painted with cocoa butter and Rainbow Dust Colours from Vanilla Valley, and took a total of 13 hours.
I made myself comfortable in the studio, surrounded myself with everything I needed, and fully relaxed into it.
I can’t say it was easy, but I had a vision, and was determined to see it through.
I needed to break free from the doubts I had about the final result, and just go for it.
I’m so glad I did. ☺️

Here is Barry the Bunny!!!! (Named by my TikTok live audience)
He was delivered this morning to Bumblebee children’s ward of Hillingdon hospital, for the children, families, and staff who may be unable to celebrate Easter at home this year.
Being in hospital is absolutely rubbish, but I just know this has brought some joy and smiles to everyone on the ward.
We had a visit planned from the Easter Bunny himself, but unfortunately, our mascot was taken ill earlier this week and has been admitted to another ward of the hospital 😞 (sending our love to Becky ❤️)
Because of that, there was a mad scramble yesterday to try and get this cake where it needed to be this morning, and I can proudly say that a solid team effort has saved the day!
Barry is made from chocolate cake, filled with chocolate buttercream, and milk chocolate spread. Obviously. It’s Easter. It HAD to be chocolate!
He’s covered in white Callebaut chocolate ganache, and Sweet Success Sugarcraft modelling chocolate, before being coloured with Rainbow Dust Colours.
On the board is gluten free vanilla and chocolate nest cupcakes, and vegan lemon daffodil cupcakes.
The cute little ‘bunny trail’ sign from Sweet Stamp - Amy Cakes finished it perfectly 🥰
A massive thank you to The Purry Godmother for helping with delivery! You’re an absolute STAR!!!

❤️A little but important side note;
Whilst we choose to make these cakes, and donate them to various causes and charities, it is becoming increasingly difficult to fund them.
Supplies are expensive, and we can only make cakes like this for as long as we can afford to.
So, to try and help a little, I’ve set up a donations page.
All donations go directly and solely to cakes for charities, hospitals, and to feeding the homeless.
We strongly believe in doing what we can to make the world a little bit better, and we do it via the medium of cake.

Pretty Easter vibes 🥰
Easter and pastels go hand in hand, so when I designed this sheet cake, I knew exactly which colour palette to choose, and Colour Mill had every shade.
Sage was used to cover this 7 layer chocolate, Biscoff and mini egg beauty.
The ruffles had a drop or two of lemon, the piped shells were baby pink, and I added a little aubergine to the leftover pink buttercream to make a pastel lilac.
And how cute are those Stamp n Cut mini floral eggs from Sweet Stamp - Amy Cakes!
This cake wasn’t quite finished without some sprinkles, so I used some PME Cake Decorating daisy cake charms leftover from Mother’s Day.

We won’t mention the mortgage I had to take out to buy the mini eggs 🫠
(Side note. I won’t tell anyone if I ever win the lottery… but there will be signs. I’ll be walking around with pockets full of mini eggs)

Wishing the second half of Yes, it’s cake, a VERY happy 21st birthday!
Kai is who makes all your brownies, cinnamon rolls, cookies and rocky road.
He packages all the postal items, does all the inventory and finances.
He keeps me on track and gives me a supportive kick up the butt to get me motivated.
Without him, I’d be a useless idiot, and Yes, its cake wouldn’t exist.
I’m already an idiot, but he won’t let me be useless too. Thanks mate!
