Drying our clothes outside keeps them fresh and well aired!
Here are some of the main benefits:
🌏It's environmentally friendly.
🌞It whitens and disinfects clothes - the ultra-violet rays of sunlight help to bleach and disinfect laundry. This is particularly beneficial for white sheets, towels and cloth diapers. However, for dark-colored clothes, excessive sunlight can cause some harm. So keep dark colors in the shade, if possible, to prevent fading.
👕It's gentle on clothes and makes them last longer - the combo of heat and tumbling wears away at the strength of fabric fibers, causing tiny bits to break away–that’s what creates the fuzzy stuff in your dryer’s lint trap.
💧⚡️💸It helps you save money - air-drying clothes uses less energy, which saves money and makes less of an impact on the environment.
🌳It encourages you to go outside - hanging up laundry is a physical activity that you can do inside or outside.
🌬It reduces wrinkles - in the clothes 😄

Here are 3 good reasons to shop at a bulk or refill store:
• Package free / Plastic free - you bring your own containers
• Supporting suppliers who are making a difference to people's lives and the environment
• You buy what you need - No Waste
Some of my local refill shops here in Hackney are moving online only but they are still offering home delivery. This is where I try to buy most of my household basics.
There are certain things I will now try and only buy bulk like: spices, flour, all purpose cleaner, lentils, seeds, dry fruit and oats.
🌱☕️🥜🌰🧼🧺
Some corner shops here in Hackney have refill services for products like washing up liquid, laundry detergent and conditioner, all purpose cleaner. It really is becoming more accessible to everyone.
What are your essential bulk buys?

Beeswax food wraps are an ideal replacement for plastic clingfilm and can be used to wrap up everything from sandwiches and cheese blocks to leftovers and bread.
Plastic-free and compostable, beeswax wraps are one of the most popular cling film alternatives on the market. Generally made from cotton with a coating of beeswax and other oils, the cloth becomes pliable with the warmth of your hands, allowing you to mould it around food and over the tops of bowls and containers.
Made with: beeswax, organic cotton, pine resin and organic jojoba oil.
How to clean a Beeswax Wrap
Fill your sink with cool water and a mild washing-up liquid.
Pop your wraps in the sink and don't be afraid to give them a good scrub!
Rinse off and hang to dry.

Contacting your local MP is a great way to raise awareness and call for change.
Whether it is climate change, aviation expansion, LGBTQ+ equality, immigration law, or any other matter that needs action, you can contact your MP when you, or people living in your area, are affected by decisions made by the UK Parliament or by the Government, MPs represent all the people in their local area, whether they vote for them or not.
How?
Writing is probably the best method, as it provides a written record that can be referred to later.
You can:
Write a letter to your MP at: House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA
Email them using the contact details in the Directory of MPs
Start a petition
Remember to always include your own address when you write to your MP so that they will know you live in their constituency.
Organizations like The Climate Coalition and are great to find templates and to find out more about how to reach out to your MP.
Be the voice of change.

Are you ready to SWAP your plastic washing-up liquid for a plastic-free, natural, zero waste alternative that works just as well?
What is washing up paste?
Washing up paste is a concentrated form of active ingredients, similar to soap, or dish washing soap.
Why a paste?
You don’t need any spatulas or unnecessary tools. The paste is almost solid and when it is in contact with water foams up quickly and is super easy to use. You just need to rub your cloth, dishwashing brush or scourer on the paste and it is ready to use.
Stop paying for water
Did you know liquid products are 60-95% water which is why water or aqua is listed as the top ingredient on the list. We think its best for your bank account and our planet if you add the water at home.
When you choose washing up paste you are choosing to use no plastic bottles.
No plastic bottles, no waste, no fuss

Everyone knows we should be doing more to look after our health. Keeping active can set you up for good health now and later in life.
It can be hard to find the time (or the motivation) to head to the gym after a long day at work or get up at 6am for a run.
An active commute is an easy, convenient way to fit exercise into your daily life. By switching to walking or cycling to work you can do a little exercise every day and barely even notice it.
But not only that! By choosing to walk or cycle to work you are also lowering your carbon footprint and helping the environment.
You’re making a positive difference any time that you walk or bike instead of drive, or even take the bus, even if the distance seems so small that it’s insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
The longer your commute, the more of a difference you can make.
PLUS walking or biking can save a lot of money on gas and vehicle maintenance in the long run.

Small and independent businesses are the lifeblood of our town centres and neighbourhoods. Shopping from small businesses in your area can help keep the local economy healthy and support someone’s livelihood, but it can also provide a much more personalised shopping experience.
It is said that for every £1 spent with a local, independent business, between 50p-70p circulates back into that local economy.
