This is interesting reading on how match giving works.
Effect of Matching Ratios on Charitable Giving in the United States | The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab
Researchers found that matching gifts were an effective fundraising tactic, increasing the likelihood of donation and total donations, but larger match ratios did not return more donations than smaller match ratios.

Dear all. This week we have decided not to share a Learn2Fundraise video. Instead we would like to add our voice in highlighting the devastation COVID-19 is causing in people’s lives. As you know my home is Uganda and in the last week I have lost five relatives to COVID-19. The Delta variant is ravaging a country whose health system is on its knees. Private hospitals are charging over $2,000 a day ( an average Ugandan earns about $100 a month). If your loved one dies in hospital, the body is confiscated until the bill is settled. Many have resorted to selling their land and homes to pay hospitals bills. This is the face of the pandemic that many are not hearing about around the world. 😭😭😭😭😭 . As fundraisers what can we do to help?

Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from - well …poor judgment. Let us not kick ourselves too much when we make mistakes but learn from them to help us become better. This is to making mistakes and learning every single day of our lives. Happy Monday people.

If we do not go after what we want, we will never have it. If we do not ask, the answer will always be no. If we do not step forward, we will always be in the same place. Be brave, keep moving forward and reach your goals. Happy Monday people.

Together we’ve had the privilege of launching some of the UK’s most successful new global fundraising campaigns and continue to work on new exciting approaches to innovative financing with philanthropy and the private sector. I think you see why she simply had to join me on Learn2Fundraise. Hope you enjoy the chat as much as I did. For more, follow us on .

Every crisis, anywhere in the world deserves to be highlighted and supported. Sometimes we get numb to hearing terrible news from certain parts of the world that they end up not getting as much attention. Worse still, these countries start to face protracted crises which makes us somewhat “used to” their terrible conditions. In the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, at least 20 people were killed, 170 children are missing and thousands more forced to flee their homes as lava from the Nyiragongo volcano near the city of Goma reached their villages last Saturday. One woman narrated how she lost her husband because he was too sick to walk and is dead as a result of lava engulfing their house. With very few cars (if any), a poor road network and no advanced warning, the people living in the shadow of the volcano had to flee at a walking pace - imagine how scary and crippling this must be. Please do highlight and share this devastating news with others.

“You are not reading this my mistake. Everything is going to be ok. Breathe and remember you have been in this place before. We have been this uncomfortable, anxious and scared and yet we survived. We are much stronger than we think” Keith Kibirango - Presenter, Learn2Fundraise.
