Ladies and Gentlemen,
The LRA will find a contingent for the Royal British Legion’s Cenotaph Dispersal on Sunday 8 November 2026.
I need to provide the RBL with an estimate of the number of places we would like for the LRA at this year's Parade by Friday 24 April 2026.
The eligibility criteria are as follows:
1. Ex-service personnel from the UK and the Commonwealth who have served the Crown.
2. Retired emergency services personnel from the UK and Commonwealth who have served the Crown.
3. Partners or first-generation family members of those who served in His Majesty’s Armed Forces and have died. This only includes the following:
a. Wives, husbands, partners or civil partners
b. Siblings
c. Parents
d. Children
Notwithstanding that serving personnel are disallowed, we did successfully register several individuals who qualified as first-generation family members of those who served in His Majesty’s Armed Forces and have died. Hopefully, this provides an 'in' for a number of you who might otherwise be ineligible.
Please confirm, as soon as you can, your intentions for 2026; this should constitute as firm a commitment as possible, given that we don’t want to take places that we subsequently fail to fill. It would be great to improve on the number of 15 who marched last year.
We will round off the day again with lunch at the Cavalry and Guards Club. Private guests are extremely welcome.
You all know the required standard of dress; if unsure, please see https://www.londonregimentassociation.co.uk/events and https://www.londonregimentassociation.co.uk/galleries.
I look forward to hearing from you and please do pass this on to anyone whom you feel would be willing and able to commit in the appropriate spirit. Details have also been posted on the LRA website.
Thanks.
Yours aye,
Ed

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The London Regiment Association will be using its planned Carol Service on Tuesday 9 December as a memorial service for Greg Truman. At the behest of the vicar of St Lawrence Jewry, this will be a carol service with memorial components, rather than a memorial service with carols.
The service will start at 1830 hrs and should run no more than an hour.
After the service, light refreshments will be served in the Commonwealth Chapel, at the side of the church.
The Association will bear the costs of the service, and so no charge will be levied. However, it is important that you confirm your attendance with me as soon as possible so that I can provide accurate numbers for catering. You may, of course, make a donation in Greg's name to the Association, using the following details:
The London Regiment Association
A/c 16432028
Sort code 83-04-25.
Please be sure to mark your payment - TRUMAN.
We look forward to welcoming you, your families and your friends, to the service.
Yours aye,
Ed

Very many thanks to all those who represented The London Regiment and 1st Battalion London Guards at the funeral of Lieutenant Colonel G C Truman TD. It was a simple but evocative service, enhanced by the first-rate piping of Mr Peter Candy, and the excellent bugling of Mr Elliott Hayward representing the Royal Green Jackets Association.
You are reminded that there will be a Memorial Service for Colonel Greg on the evening of Tuesday 9 December, at St Lawrence Jewry, next to the Guildhall. Further details will be promulgated here and on the Association website: https://www.londonregimentassociation.co.uk/events

I can announce that the funeral service for Lieutenant Colonel G C Truman TD will be held on Monday 6 October at 11.00am, in St James Church, Oxford Rd, Gerrards Cross SL9 7DJ, and afterwards at a venue close to the church, to be announced.
All members of the Regimental family are welcome. Please, however, let me know if you plan to attend so that I can pass on numbers to the family. You can either post a comment here or e-mail me.
Further details will be promulgated as they are known.
Yours aye,

It is with deep regret that we report the death of Lieutenant Colonel Gregory Colin Truman TD on Sunday 7 September. He collapsed at home from a suspected heart attack and despite attempts to resuscitate him, he died in hospital.
Colonel Greg was Commanding Officer of The London Regiment when the Regiment transferred from the Queen’s Division to the Guards Division of Infantry in 2005, and when Somme Company was deployed in 2006.
Colonel Greg was latterly a Trustee of the Regimental Welfare and Benevolent Fund, and Deputy Chair of this Association.
He leaves an ex-wife, Eleanor, and two grown-up children, Rupert and Safia (Saffy), and will be fondly remembered with respect by all ranks.
Details of the funeral and subsequent memorial service will be circulated on this page in due course.
Should anyone wish to offer condolences to his Next-of-Kin, they have asked me to share their contact numbers. Please email me at [email protected] and I will pass these on.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
THE LONDON REGIMENT ASSOCIATION CAROL SERVICE - TUE 9 DEC 25
WNG O
1. I am pleased to announce that The London Regiment Association (LRA) is planning to host the Regimental Carol Service. The Service will be held on Tue 9 Dec 25 in The Guild Church of St Lawrence Jewry next Guildhall (SLJ), which is where the Colours of The London Regiment were laid up and are now hung on display. The service will start at around 1830hrs.
2. The Service is open to all former members of The London Regiment, serving and retired, and their families and personal guests. First Battalion London Guards will be holding a separate Battalion service on Tue 16 Dec 25. The LRA service will likely be followed by an all-ranks and families reception, for which details will be confirmed as soon as possible, and for which there may a small charge.
3. To determine the viability of the event, as this is the first for many years when we have not combined efforts with the serving Battalion, I would be very grateful of you could give an indication of your interest in attending as soon as possible. I will need to confirm or cancel the booking within a month or so.
4. We hope this is an event that capbadge Association chairmen can encourage their members to attend; we can discuss ways in which respective Regimental traditions can be reflected in the service. We also hope that this is a good focal point around which, perhaps, to plan reunions for Cambrai, Messines, Somme, Amiens and Vimy Companies.
5. Please pass on these details to your London Regiment contacts to ensure that we have maximum coverage.
Yours aye,
Ed

I’m pleased to report that the Colours of The London Regiment, laid up in St Lawrence Jewry (SLJ) on 20 April 2024, have now been hung in the narthex.
With thanks again to Joe Stevens for fabricating the new poles.
The next opportunity for the Regiment en masse to view the Colours will be the Carol Service on 9 December 2025, at SLJ.
29/06/2025
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Further to my request from 1 June, seeking assistance with refurbishing the poles that will be used to hang our Colours in St Lawrence Jewry, I am delighted to update that this task is now complete.
The Regiment owes a debt of gratitude to Joe Stevens, from the LS P&Ds, who very kindly re-fabricated the fixings for the crown finials from the original Colour pikes, and gave the finials a thorough clean and polish so they will look their absolute best when the Colours are hung.
The first opportunity for the Regiment en masse to see the Colours in situ will be the Carol Service on 9 December 2025, which will be held in St Lawrence Jewry.
Yours aye,
Ed
